"THIS WILL BE THE POLISH DEBUT OF THE YEAR!"

There are four of them: Skyboy, Junior, Q and Mr S. They describe themselves as "Time-travellers who have arrived from the past to experiment with modern tools and toys yet find beauty and real melodies echoing deep inside them". They have enjoyed real success as Neo Retros first single "The High-rise in the Sunshine" has taken over the airwaves. "Not since a group of miners in Chile rose to the surface has a country been so moved by an appearance" they joked when they first hit Polish Radio 3. On the 9th May, they will have an added reason to be happy as their debut album "Listen To Your Leader" will be released and will make a great impact.

"It's hard to believe that this is a Polish band."

Kto zna ich pierwszy singel "The High Rise in the Sunshine", wie, o czym mowa. Nastrojowa melodia, dyskretna aranzacja, wywolujacy jakas nieokreslona nostalgie refren - takich urokliwych piosenek na tej plycie jest wiecej. Od czasu do czasu Neo Retros pokazuja tez inna twarz. "Choises Chosen" przywoluje na mysl najbardziej lobuzerskie, britpopowe czasy Blur, a wzbogacony o deciaki "Billy And His Gun" zdradza pokrewienstwo z Kinksami.

It's hard to believe that this is a Polish band. Well maybe not entirely as the group's members are international. Neo Retros though were formed in Warsaw and they have grown up - at least partly - right here. Nevertheless, their music doesn't betray this fact at all. The deftness with which they craft an atmosphere of melancholy, the ease in their playing - is somehow foreign, and because of that it is intriguing and fresh.

Neo Retros aim to write 'songs' and march forward with this purpose in mind without any feelings of shame whatsoever. Whoever has heard their first single "The High-rise in the Sunshine", will recognise this. Moody melodies, discreet arrangements, choruses that render a sense of melancholy - and there are more such charming songs on this cd. From time to time, Neo Retros also display their other face. "Choices Chosen" evokes memories of the rough-and-ready, roguish Britpop days of Blur and the horns that enrich "Billy and his Gun" betray hints of the Kinks.

Bio

Neo Retros is a four-piece, Warsaw-based, international group of time-travellers who slept through the late eighties, took a brief look around the nineties, were cryogenically frozen in the noughties and defrosted in November 2010. They find thrills and ideas in the modern tools and toys surrounding them, though their compositions follow strict "song" structure and contain melodic traces of yesteryear, especially echoes of the 50s and 60s. Neo Retros refuse to write about trivialities, preferring to address real issues. Common themes are: the elusive search for happiness; solitude in a disconnected world and dumbing-down and escapism found in "pap-culture". Their award-winning debut album "Listen To Your Leader" (released by Sony Music in May 2011) was overwhelmingly praised by both media and public alike, their first four singles all received vast airplay on national radio stations and they won both main prizes at Polsat TV's hugely popular "TOP Trendy Music Festival” for the performance of their debut single - "The High-rise in the Sunshine". Neo Retros have also had the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Duran Duran, Mark Ronson and Razorlight. Their songs have been included on a number of “Best Of…” albums and very soon their songs will be heard in a primetime TV series. Neo Retros’s second album, scheduled for release in October 2012, is sharper, rawer, brasher and braver than their debut outing with nods to 60s Garage Rock and Surf Rock but with an overall Psychedelic-Pop inclination.
