"Punk Planet - Review of Fast Forward EP (2006)"

Neosonic -Fast Forward CD-EP
Neosonic plays futuristic techno rock. On record, principal musician Jonathan Cy and vocalist Bonnie Miller wisely choose melodic-pop songs as the media in which they indulge their interest in beats per minute and computer recording. Give them credit for identifying music and lyrics that fit together. "Hoverboard" (a song about a hoverboard, natch), works better with techno beats than, say, a banjo. Miller's Gwen Stefani-inspired vocals thrive next to the pumping electronic music, especially in "621," an assertive song about sex. (JM)

"Score! Magazine - Review of Fast Forward EP (2006)"

Jonathan Cy's guitar and electronics create light, swirling soundscapes that drive the songs with jangly sharp edges and sonic explosions that seem to come from nowhere –

They fit Miller's voice and Cy's arrangements so perfectly, the listener gets that these kids get it. They aren't trying to be something they aren't. They are the pop stars of tomorrow – and they are here today.

I may have forgotten to mention that I am not a very big fan of electronica – in fact I have no use for it at all. Neosonic, though, didn't get the memo and they created a disc that is in the process of changing my mind about my feelings regarding this heretofore unlistenable musical genre.

"621" might be the most original pop song ever. Neosonic takes some age-old Rock 'n' roll ideas and force them into the future world with great success. I wonder if even they know how futuristic the ideas in "621" are.

They sign off with "See ya in the future."

If the music world is ready for a shot of something fresh and new – some fresh blood in its tired bones – Neosonic will be right there with a hypodermic of energy – and Miller's overflowing sex appeal.

Bio

This neosonic mission was initiated by young visionary producer Jonathan Cy and vocal phenomenon Bonnie Miller at San Diego State University; Manny Dime (pro) arrived from Switzerland to be the final acute corner of this agile triangle. These players fully believe in Neosonic — they’re not the only ones.

One of the first Neosonic shows was played at the legendary Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood to a packed house. One week later, Indie 103.1 FM started playing them in Southern CA.
Neosonic have since headlined the Whisky and played shows between San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas, sharing mainstage bills with other up and coming bands such as The Birthday Massacre and Los Abandoned.

These three were little kids in the ‘80s and now exist together in an exclusive urban futuristic underworld — they exemplify and amplify the energetic, dynamic, and violent quality of contemporary youth, especially as embodied in the motion and force of modern machinery.
