Blessed with a good voice and a passion for music, dancehall artiste Nesbeth is determined to make his mark in the dancehall arena. So far he is off to a great start as his songs are now permeating the airwaves and earning huge forwards whenever he sings them on stage. Boardhouse and Guns Out are really creating a storm right now…but for Nesbeth, that is just the beginning as he sets his sights on higher heights in the biz.
Born Greg Nesbeth and raised in humble upbringings, he was forced to leave his Arnett Gardens home to live with relatives in Waterhouse due to economic hardships and then Maxfield. Each move meant a new school and more hardship.
Despite the lack of stability in his family life, Greg was able to find and maintain an interest in music. He was encouraged by his friends to take music seriously as a career choice. In 1992, Greg assumed the stage name Nesbeth and made his debut performance at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. He was well received at that event.
Nesbeth recorded his first single 'Reflection Of Love' with singer Camera in 1993, kick starting his professional career. He has recorded songs for labels such as Jack Scorpio, King Jammy’s, Down Sound Record, Shocking Vibes Production.
His music covers a broad spectrum of subject areas, but he admits that those which address adversity are closest to his heart. This is evident in tracks like 'Board House ’Guns Out ’So Let It Be and Weight of the world .
Nesbeth has performed extensively, making appearances at a number of stage shows across the island, including Sumfest, Bob Marley Birthday Bash, Sting’ Reble Salute’Western Conciousness and Teen Splash. and he has also perform overseas in U .S.A’ Antigua’ St Kitts and Grenada .
Nesbeth’s break came when a friend introduced him to well known music producer Flava in February 2007. Flava who has a keen ear for talent, wasted no time in taking him under his umbrella, recording the singles Boardhouse, Guns Out, Friend Killa, Injustice and Baby Mother.
The singjay is determined to use his talent to spread positive messages in the dancehall and hope he will help in steering youths in the right direction.
Looking ahead Nesbeth is currently working on new materials to unleash on the dancehall loving public.
