Bio

HALF MOON BAY, CA – On the coast of Northern California, Nesta has gained a fan base built on the concept of one love, a concept conceived by the one and only, Bob Marley. Nesta embraces this musical revolution through their creative approach to unifying music. They are a group of strong souled men with deep roots in their local community, including their fellow surfers, musicians and artists. You may have seen them perform at their local watering holes where they are frequent flyers, such as The Old Princeton Landing and Longboard Margarita Bar.

The coast-side band, Nesta, debuted their reggae dub sound to a crowd of locals to promote nothing more than neighborhood harmony in two “Free For All Friday” event that shaped how one town embraced their community. Nesta often performs their reggae-dub inspired songs in support of local causes, which in the past have included "The J7 Benefit Show" in an effort to keep a local art and music studio open on the coast, “Music 4 A Friend” that help raise funds for a community members medical bills, “Concert for Contest” which benefited the Half Moon Bay Surf Club, and Surfers for Cetaceans (S4C). Nesta recently played at the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club after a local premiere of Minds In the Water which is a movie in support of one’s surfer’s quest to engage his community to help protect the ocean and all that it encompasses. Similar to this quest, is the quest of Nesta who strive to showcase their musical strengths in order to bring awareness to local causes within their own community.

Nesta predominantly performs original songs, but a few of their favorite covers to play live are "Sun is Shining" and "Stir It Up". Reggae music has been established by legendary musicians such as Bob Marley. These legendary Bob Marley classics are the sole reason behind the spirit of Nesta, but they also have been influenced by local artists such as The Expendables, Slightly Stoopid and Rebelution. This driving force, coupled with their love of coastal living has inspired some of their authentic tracks including “Maui”, “Afterburner”, and “Sands of Waterfalls”. Don’t let these easeful titles fool you, whether it be their humorous yet genuine personalities or the simple passion they have for their music, witnessing them perform live will leave you coveting you were on an island hanging out with the guys of Nesta.

Bio:

In December of 2011, a group of friends from Half Moon Bay, California formed a Reggae/Dub/Rock band. The band has many musical influences spanning genres from reggae, dub, ska, punk, metal, and hip hop. The one common denominator was the love of Bob Marley and his music. Nesta is Marley's middle name and also means "pure" in Welsh. The band gets together from time to time and watches old Bob Marley movies. They decided that Nesta would be the perfect name for the group. Nesta performs mostly original songs, but some of their favorite covers to play live are "Sun is Shining" and "Stir It Up". Pete Collom, also well known for his coastal influenced oil paintings, is the front man performing the lead vocals & rhythmn guitar. He was an original member of "The Seen Reds" and was the last drummer of "The Dust" Jameson Kenway lays down the lows on the bass. He played in punk bands "SubSociety" and "ULC" as well as a ska band "Typical Hero". Casey Ward provides the lead guitar and back-up vocals, previously with the band "Thanks 4 Leaving". Robert Taylor, better known by his MC name Fat Rob from "Knowmatic Soulz" and "Thanks 4 Leaving", is the percussionist on the drums.
