The best kept secret in music

My second day was spent touring the floor, seeing the Leg Avenue fashion show, and finally attending the vampire ball. Now, you would think that merely being in the presence of all those vamped out folks would be spectacle enough, but there was even more to it than that. The highlight of the ball was a performance by Knights of Iron, a combat performance troupe based in Michigan. They put on a show called "Netherworld: Vampire Apocalypse." Now, the title might seem a bit overblown. I assure you, it isn't. This show was unlike anything I have ever seen—imagine vampire chicks with swords fighting other vampires—the whole thing illuminated by the glow of rapidly shifting colored lights and lasers---all to the accompaniment of a live heavy metal band---and you might get some inkling of how intense this thing was. The fight choreography was truly impressive--the swordplay was the fastest I have ever seen in a live setting. I got some great images of the show, some of which are in my pics, but as good as these are, they just don't do the show justice. "Vampire Apocalypse" is something that just has to be experienced--has to be felt.
