Hailing from rainy Portland, Oregon-Never Awake's members share the indescribable habitat for music that is the Pacific Northwest United States.
The result is the environment is the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, and bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam just to name a few.
Although these gods of rock and grunge can be heard in NeverawakE's unmistakable sound, their musical roots grow deeper, from the classical tones of Bach to the heavy hitting orchestrations of Megadeth.
Influenced at a young age by Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, and the Beatles, the members of Never Awake are now hooked on the likes of Dream Theater, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Symphony X, always pushing the limits of their instruments and themselves.
The year of 2012 has been a "Grand Opening" of sorts for Never Awake. Opening for none other than Uli Jon Roth of The Scorpions in February, releasing their debut EP on March 18th, and making their first online appearances on multiple stations.
"The band writes and rehearses constantly" says lead guitar player and founding member Matt Galligan, "I always keep a guitar in my hand and constantly come up with new ideas, the rest is what you hear.""
Never Awake has raw talent, burning ambition, and a deep catalog to back it up. "NeverawakE" the EP is a short but sweet sample of what is soon to be an epic discography.
When front man Taylor Dye was asked why Never Awake is any different from the rest, his response was this: "We're out to do more than just play music, we want to help change it, and when you change music, you change the world."
