"Never Let This Go"

Chasing your dreams and holding onto everything you love – you’ll Never Let This Go; funny story this is also the name of a Tempe, Arizona based alt-rock/pop-punk band. In January last year David Kleinebreil (vocals/guitar) began playing music with Jordan Auge (drums/vocals) along with the former guitarist and bassist. The current line-up, which also features Austin Jones (guitar/vocals) and Alex Gilbertson (bass/vocals) joined forces only in July of this year. Gilbertson and Jones are great additions to the band as they have the drive and passion for music that Auge and Kleinebreil have been looking for. Whilst the band name started out as a name on a list of ideas, it has become what the band stands for. The whole idea of chasing your dreams and holding onto everything you love is something everyone can relate to in a different way, but for the band – they will never let music go. It has been a burning passion for the four-piece since they were young and all they have ever wanted to do and they are willing to do whatever it takes to make it a reality...and a career.

Kleinebreil describes the Never Let This Go sound as “a mix of early 2000s pop punk and rock and roll”. A rather uncomplicated band, Kleinebreil believes the band is more known for what some refer to as “edgy” lyrics – edgy for their genre anyway. They have break up songs and songs about leaving home all in their repertoire – as every pop punk band should. This sound is informed by influential bands such as All Time Low, Blink 182, Brand New, Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday that the band listens to collectively. Kleinebreil also lists Yellowcard as another personal influence that contributes to the Never Let This Go sound. For this Tempe, Arizona band, it all comes down to bands that have meaning in their lyrics and passion in their performance, but know how to have fun at the same time. Kleinebreil has always had a strong influence of pop punk in terms of his song writing, but also finds influence lyrically from a darker –themed band such as Brand New.

What makes this young band unique is that they are a fan-focussed, genuine group of guys. In the past year the four-piece have grown a lot with these values constantly keeping them grounded. Kleinebreil adds “we do our best to always reply online and talk with our fans, even when they are just having a rough day”. Testament to their commitment, Never Let This Go will be going bowling in a few weeks along with two randomly picked fans. They hope to increase the amount of fun events, such as bowling with fans, in the coming months.

The current EP is called Remember speaks to the theme of leaving those behind who don’t love and support you in your life – you then go on to do great things. One such track Reality is all about that with the lyrics – “I’ll give you up; I’ll give up everything to see my dreams become reality”. It differs to the self-titled release in two keys ways for Kleinebreil: it is more mature musically and lyrically. The last track on the latest release is called Ravine that was undoubtedly a hard song for Kleinebreil to write and subsequently record. He says “it’s about a very hard time in my life that I endured earlier this year”. Whilst it isn’t easy to be so vulnerable, it is a privilege that Never Let This Go truly enjoys. Battling through line-up changes and facing their own tough times, the band is stronger with a great set of songs for themselves and their fans. There is a sense of real growth between the two releases that only looks set to continue into the future.

The debut performance of the current line-up is something that Kleinebreil looks back upon fondly – it only occurred on 23 August this year. Playing to a 400 strong crowd, Never Let This Go celebrated the release of their EP Remember. It is also featured a dream lighting set up created by Auge. The band is always planning for one thing – their first tour. Ever the infectiously ambitious band, Never Let This Go would love to do a full US tour. However, it is more than likely they will start with a west coast tour from Phoenix to Seattle and back. No matter how it eventuates, one thing is for sure, the band will be overjoyed to finally be out on the road visiting fans that they have previously only interacted with online.

Finishing off this year will see Never Let This Go play a few Arizona shows this month and another coming up in December. Their last show of the year will take place at Crescent Ballroom - a fantastic venue that they haven’t played before whereby they will share the stage with none other than Aaron Carter. In the next few months, they hope to foster closer relationships with their fans and building up their street teams across the country – with a presence already in 10 major cities, they hope to be in at least 30 by the end of the year. - Australian Musician Network

Bio

Never Let This Go is bringing their unique mix of rock and pop-punk to Arizona’s music scene and beyond.

The band was formed in January 2012 by lead singer and guitarist David Kleinebreil. He later rounded out the lineup with Jordan Auge on drums, Alex Gilbertson on bass and Austin Jones on lead guitar and backup vocals.

Four short months after the formation of the band brought the release of their self-titled EP, recorded by David Ludlow (Greeley Estates). Drawing from bands like Jimmy Eat World and Blink-182 for inspiration, the EP’s lyrics focus on themes like losing love, growing up and chasing your dreams.

With the addition of Gilbertson in summer 2012 and Jones in summer 2013, NLTG recorded and released their second EP, titled Remember, on August 23, 2013.

Remember showcases the band’s more mature, rock-influenced sound, while also paying homage to their pop-punk roots. Recorded by Ludlow and Dan Parker (A Change of Pace), the EP demonstrates NLTG’s growth from the first listen.

NLTG’s passion is evident in their live shows and they have shared the stage with nationally touring acts such as Set It Off, Go Radio and Blood on the Dance Floor. This December, the band is slated to open for Aaron Carter at the Phoenix stop of his After Party Tour.

Never Let This Go works tirelessly to reach out to fans across the state and across the country and hopes to be touring full time by summer of 2014. Meanwhile, the band will continue to write and record while bringing their music to even more people with satellite shows this winter.
