Bio

CURRENTLY IN THE STUDIO W/ CHRIS HENDERSON of 3 DOORS DOWN

If you were ever in the mind set of "it's not possible" then you have never met Dawn Botti, lead singer of New Day Dawn. Standing all of 5-feet tall, Botti defies stereotypes. One would never guess that this unabashed powerful and sexy rocker is also an NYU Law Grad and a senior executive with one of the largest media companies in the world. With abilities that go far beyond just good songwriting, her passionate and powerful voice will take you through every emotion -- from grief and anger to love and hope.

Botti’s quest started back in 1998 with her band Slushpuppy. In the days before ITunes and Myspace, Slushpuppy was the “band-to-watch” in the exploding New Jersey music scene. They worked with renowned producers, like John Angello (Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr.), grabbed a coveted Jagermeister sponsorship, placement on MTV and multiple music awards. Matt Pinfield featured their unreleased single “Runaway” on K-Rock and called the band “one of the next big things to come out of New York.”

In 2003 due to directional and personal differences the band split. After talks of potentially reuniting, Botti was then faced with the unexpected suicide of bassist Cory Baker. Shaken by the loss, Botti chose to focus on career and family; yet her dream to pursue music never died.

In 2008 she'd convince her drummer/husband Gary Szczecina to start a new band. Celebrating the connection to their first love -- music-- New Day Dawn was formed. Despite that the original intention of the band was to be nothing more than a hobby, New Day Dawn began to gain recognition and success. They received a nomination for best Rock/ Alternative band by the Hoboken Music Awards; opened for the Gin Blossoms, B.o.B, and Jesse Malin, and has performed countless gigs & music festivals including: Union MusicFest, Millenium Music Conference, & Dewey Beach.

2012 has brought the band to a whole new level! First, the band performed at the 16th Annual Millennium Music Conference where they were honored with being featured on the cover of the PA Musician magazine. Then, in March they traveled to Austin for not one, but four SxSW showcases! From there they toured all the way down to NC; opening for nationals where they could like Fools for Rowan at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA and most recently, for California rockers, LIT at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. And the band has received radio play on WMMR (Philly's largest rock station), Q104.3 (NY's largest rock station) and 95.9 (The WRat - NJ's largest rock radio station) !

Currently, the band is finalizing its sophomore release in Nashville at Rivergate Studios with producer/studio owner Chris Henderson (3 Doors Down). To date the album includes guest performances by Greg Upchurch (3 Doors Down/Puddle of Mudd) and Bobby Caps (.38 Special) with additional tracks being produced by John Moyer (Disturbed/ Adrenaline Mob) and mixing credit to Rogers Masson (Daughtry, Day of Fire, Vintage Trouble)
