They may no longer be quite so 'new' but this Dutch octet remains as cool as ever.Fronted by saxophonist Benjamin Herman and trumpeter David Rockefeller, the NCC specialise in a smart brand of dance-jazz-funk that foregrounds the percussion-driven rhythm section. The band toys with retro concepts of sound and style without feeling the need to become full-on revivalists. - March 2006
(...) Absolutely, irresistible post-modern party jazz from an established Dutch crew boasting some fine production ideas over a huge range of crowd-pleasing grooves. The rhythm tracks cook (from bubbling Afro-beat to clattering Latin-Carribean) and so does the soloing. Clubbers jazz with class. - April 2006

Bio
NCC was born in 1994 when these eight cool musicians ignited the Amsterdam club scene and then set fire to the rest of the Dutch music scene, spreading the heat rapidly to international festivals. From the start they were hot and never cooled down, releasing albums, winning the Edison Jazz Award in 2000 (the Dutch Grammy) and touring extensively. After a couple of years the New Cool Collective founded their Big Band extension with whom they also play around the world.
