"Taking Over Austin with New Day Dawn"

... Too many bands try to reinvent the wheel. New Day Dawn simply improves the ride, using memorable guitar/vocal interplay and slight tempo shifts to capture the listener. And Dawn's holds are simply captivating. It's refreshing to hear something that kicks pretentiousness and snobbery to the curb and candidly provides balls-out, rocking music. Rise Above This pitches a cocksure attitude, one that combined with it's fire and impudence results in an EP that is wonderfully hook-laden and instantly addictive. - Jivewired.com

"Mammoth sized anthemic rock with a sophisticated edge"

Mammoth sized anthemic rock with a sophisticated edge and a nice balance between melodic and hard hitting, the memorable choruses, punchy hooks and powerful vocals from Dawn Botti leave a lasting mark. Influences from blues and classic rock aid the energetic, gritty timelessness all over this EP. While their peers are too busy inventing the next sub-genre, NDD rely on the time honoured tradition of guitar wailing and sharp, infectious songwriting. - Inforty Music Zine

"LAWYER TURNED ROCKER TAKES AUSTIN BY STORM WITH HELP FROM MEMBERS OF “3 DOORS DOWN” AND “38 SPECIAL”"

New York, NY, March 1, 2012 — What do you get when you cross a high-powered corporate legal executive with bunch of rock stars? It sounds like the beginning of a silly riddle, but Dawn Botti and her band NEW DAY DAWN are no joke! Straight out of Rivergate Studios with producer Chris Henderson from 3 Doors Down, Botti and her band head to Austin's "South by South West" festival this month where they will play four showcases in three days.
Though Botti has been practicing law for over 15 years, she never gave up her rock and roll dreams. In 2003 her band Slushpuppy was poised to sign a major label deal with Matt Pinfield calling them "one of the next big things to come out of New York City.” "But that elusive deal never came," explains Botti, "and at some point the daily grind and pressure to grow up and get practical took over."
That is, until Botti met music manager James Fetzer who was impressed by Botti's talent after seeing New Day Dawn perform at the 2010 Millennium Music Conference. "He asked me point blank if I was ready to get serious about my dreams again and that if I was I should call him."
"Dawn is the client that I have been waiting for," says Fetzer. "There are so many things that a musician can do to advance their own profile and Dawn works just as hard off the stage as she does on." It is with this conviction that Fetzer felt confident in connecting Botti with top level rock professionals, like Henderson and John Moyer (Disturbed/ Adrenaline Mob) with whom Botti will co-write next month. "I knew she could hold her own. She just needed to be reminded to believe in herself again."
New Day Dawn recently began work on their new CD with Henderson producing three songs so far. Set to release later this year, the recording already includes guest performances by Bobby Capps, keyboardist of 38 Special and drummer Gregg Upchurch (3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd). "It’s an incredible feeling of validation to have all these amazing musicians willing to work with me and on my songs!"
You can catch New Day Dawn at one of their four performances in Austin: March 15th and 16th at Weirdo's as part of Instant Classic Records first annual “North by North Austin” showcase. Or on March 17th at The Bayou Lounge (7pm) as part of the LAND SHARK Promotion rock showcase and again at Trophy's (10pm) as part of the Invasion of the GoGirls showcase.
Botti and the band are available for interviews and appearances

"Sharp and Focused !! (album review)"

New Day Dawn consistently creates tight, but nevertheless pop-saturated, rock. Botti may share Pat Benatar’s toughness, vocally, but she is by no means angry all the time like that ‘80s icon. She is equally comfortable with the choppy, guitar-driven “Misunderstood”, as she is with the slower “See Me Fall”, and the slowest “Daddy’s Song”..... there’s no argument about the quality of this music because every performance is sharp and focused, and expertly communicated. Over and out.

"Straight-up thrilling and unpretentious !"

... straight-up thrilling and unpretentious rock with a minimum of fuss and plenty of go-for-it aplomb, this album most certainly hits the spot. Dawn Botti’s passionate vocals are highly impressive. Ditto the steady drums, chugging basslines, and gritty digging guitar riffs. Moreover, the songwriting is smart, thoughtful and reflective, with a nice line in bittersweet regret (the lovely “Nowhere Fast,” the equally beautiful and affecting “Over You”) and a sure grasp of pure snappy rock (the galvanizing “Paralyzed “). A damn fine album ! - JERSEYBEAT.com

"NDD to open for The Gin Blossoms, Tonic & Pete Yorn !"

"The Hills Were Rocked and it was good !"

... The final band of the night was New Day Dawn, ... accurately described as Chrissie Hynde fronting the Foo Fighters. Dawn Botti attacked the mic with the ferocity of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O and with the spiked coo of Denali/Ambulette frontwoman Maura Davis. From the intense opener “Tiger”, NDD had the crowd pumped and attentive. They provided the sole non-Felt cover for the night with a slamming cover of U2’s “Pride (In The Name of Love)”, which they had played at Maplewoodstock. Props go out to Williams for his snaky bass riffs that could be taken as a second lead guitar....

Bio

For years New Day Dawn songwriter and front lady Dawn Botti led a double life. She was an executive at a major media company by day and a rock musician by night. Her band performed all over the U.S., including at a number of major music festivals, such as South By Southwest (SXSW) and the Millennium Music Conference. Her double life lasted until June of 2012, when she was confronted with an ultimatum.

“My boss said to me either you’re going to be successful here and push your music back down to a hobby level, or you can’t work here.” It was a choice Botti had thought about on a regular basis but she says when it was actually presented to her, “it was the easiest decision in the world to make. I’m not giving up music.”

Soon after she parted ways with her nine to five, Botti and her band consisting of drummer Gary Szczecina (who is also Botti’s husband) and guitarist PJ Angeloni, finished their second album, Rise Above This, which will be released in February.

Musically, Botti describes Rise Above This as “anthemic rock, with big, bold choruses.” This is due, in part, to New Day Dawn working with platinum-selling songwriter/ guitarist Chris Henderson (3 Doors Down), and John Moyer (Disturbed, Adrenaline Mob) who each produced tracks on the album.

New Day Dawn isn’t Botti’s first attempt at rock success either. Her previous band, Slushpuppy, received early airplay from Matt Pinfield on NYC’s K-Rock (WXRK 92.3FM), back when it mattered and regularly filled iconic venues like CBGB’s. Slushpuppy broke up in 2003. Shortly thereafter their bassist Cory Baker committed suicide. Determined to never quit, Botti started New Day Dawn, but then put it on the back burner when she became pregnant with her son. In 2006 the band started back up and released their first full length album, The Company We Keep, in 2008.

For Botti, she says one of the highest compliments someone can give her is that they can’t get her songs out of their head. “To me, that means I’ve succeeded. I want you to remember.”

After one listen to Rise Above This, it’s clear Botti is a woman, and New Day Dawn is a band, you won’t want to forget.
