New England Drive’s Song Drives Listeners in Love

The band members of New England Drive announced recently that they are currently working on a new song, which will be completed in February of 2007. The untitled song has hardcore music with an Indie/Pop/Rock sound, while the lyrics are emotional. It consists of the basic instruments: two guitars, bass, vox, and drums. There is also a breakdown performed by Jake Archambault and an improvisation solo by Rob Orthwein.

The song is a story of a girl who breaks up with her boyfriend for no apparent reason, but rumor has it that the reason she broke up with him is because she starts to develop feelings for someone else. The song revolves around a real life situation that occurred to one of the four talented band members during the week of their Battle of the Bands concert.

“It’s [the song] more of a musical change than an experimental change. It’s us [musicians] showing another side of music we can play and write, ” said Rob Orthwein the guitarist of New England Drive.

Many songs composed by Sean Morrell (Guitar, Vocals), Jake Archambault (Guitar, Vocals), Robert Orthwein (Guitar), and Matthew Csikos (Bass Guitar) involve individual’s own emotions and personal experiences. Inspiration is sprouted from real life occurrences that the musicians face, as well as everyone else, who is anyone. Motivation ranges from times of downfall, such as break ups and broken hearts, and rises consisting of love and devotion.

New England Drive is a new aged Emo/Indie/Rock band that has been in existence since the summer of 2006. It started off with Sean Morrell and Jake Archambault. The duo played at a local show Bozfest . Rob Orthwein on guitar had been an additional to expand the original band’s diversity and talent. New England Drive with Rob was then prepared to hit the stage once again and play a local basement show with other local bands in their hometown of Parsippany, New Jersey. Following their successful concert, the members decided they needed a bassist to allow the band sounding complete. Matt Cskios caused New England Drive to become the completed and driven band that it is. - Alice Chang
