New Killer Stars – Venue: Shadrak Floor
The energy where New Killer Stars performed with on stage this fridaynight, is almost unreal. This band already caught a small radiohit with their song " Cant stop now" on the national alternative radiostation Kink Fm. And now they even play on Eurosonic. For 2008 there is a dutch tour planned. You certainly can say that this young band from Friesland is doing well.
And that certainly is what they reflect to you when you see them. Drummer Jelle van Gosliga and bassplayer Cesar Eisma wear bunnyrabbit-suits on stage, and together with their frontman they go trough the set like a whirlwind. Cesar is a true eye-catcher with his driven looks and his provoking attitude on stage. Thats one the reasons why the two-play between Sytse and Cesar is highly entertaining. Maybe Sytse could work on his singingcapabilities, its not always as tight as it should be. However, New killer Stars gave one the best perfomances of the whole evening. The music stands solid like a house, and if you play with so much energy and passion, and you give your audience such a natural kick, then you truly have quality. There will be no attempts to describe today's featured music as any type of texture, soundscape or ice cream flavor... oh no. What you get, instead, is a heads-up on the solid indie rock three piece of Sytse (guitar, vocals), Cesar (bass, vocals) and Jelle (drums) from Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands. This noisy trio, also known to many as New Killer Stars, has been around for just over a year now and have a great new EP to show for their collective efforts. Hebrew Matthew is the title of the new release and you can hear more of (and get your hands on) it by paying a visit to the New Killer Stars MySpace page. While there, you will notice a string of regional live performance dates and some amusing info on the band. There is also a New Killer Stars website with a few additional items to check out. We still can't decide whether the band is more interested in walking away from problems or sorrow, but we can tell you one thing... this track is really good and a raucous way to kick off the weekend.

Before we mention all the extra info about New Killer Stars - All you really need to know is that they rock and if you like your rock with all the ingredients such as melody, punk, big guitars, and anti lyrics - then NKS needs to be in your collection of new bands that you're obsessed with.

New Killer Stars is a young band from The Netherlands that started in the end of 2006 and has already racked up many successes because of their raw-flavoured songs and energical live performance.
They won several band contests and they were even nominated as Best Newcomer of 2007 in their region. New Killer Stars played at one of the biggest festivals of Europe called, Eurosonic and has already toured through several places in Holland. Their first single Cant Stop Now was broadcasted on national radio playing at the KINK FM-show, which is one of the most popular radio shows for alternative rock music in Holland.
The band came to its form when guitar abuser and lead singer Sytse Bloem needed band members for his songs that were already brewed in his attic. He asked Cesar Eisma to play bass guitar and Jelle van Gosliga to do the drums. All of them have musical influences from classic rock to 90s alternative. Simply putting these 3 members together resulted in a new set of songs with a lot of variation and a new sound.
New Killer Stars have signed a USA deal with Coma Gun Records (Also home to Bugs Multiply). Their new 5 song EP "Hebrew Matthew" has been released in the USA on CD as well as through the popular digital distribution sites such as iTunes and eMusic.
When you throw the New Killer Stars CD into your car stereo and crank up the volume, the adrenaline flows, you start driving faster and it brings back all that excitement you felt when you first listened to great artists like Nirvana or Foo Fighters in their early days.
Coma Gun Music is excited to be at the forefront of defining and showering some attention on one of the great rock bands from The Netherlands. Dutch rock rules!!! Who knew?...
Expect a Spring 2009 USA tour - The NKS boys plan to fly over and hit the road with label mates Bugs Multiply for a week or two.
