New Pony

Born in 2006 and based in Philadelphia, New Pony is one of the mid-Atlantic regions most original and exciting funk bands. The band's sound is at once upbeat, swampy, and drenched in funk, and is characterized by rock solid musicianship, soulful playing, and a lot of energy. The band's repertoire ranges from well crafted original funk songs that channel some southern soul, to a surprising array of funkified covers of rock tunes, to classics like The Isley Bros., The O'Jays, Charles Wright, and James Brown, to more recent flavors like Galactic and The Meters. The bottom line is this is a band that can play and they bring the crowd along for the ride. They have a large and loyal following wherever they play. Audiences love these guys!

New Pony kicked off their professional career in 2006 with shows in and around Philadelphia. By 2008, they were opening for national acts like Sonny Landreth, Dwayne Dopsie, Bernie Worrell, Papa Grows Funk, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and The Budos Band. And by 2009, they began to tour beyond their home base, and they quickly made their mark, becoming favorite performers at venues in Delaware, New Jersey, New York City, Virginia, Baltimore, and Boston.
