Bio
New Rap Order (NRO) is a New York City based arts collective and multi-media firm. Aspiring artists of various musical backgrounds founded the organization in 2001. Based out of New York City, NRO’s membership grows by attracting creative spirits from all corners of the earth and walks of life. The artistic goal of New Rap Order is to produce and maintain a current of creative genius that permeates through all kinds of media. New Rap Order is unique because of the rich musical and cultural backgrounds of its members and their genuine approach to maintaining authenticity, integrity and high quality in their work. NRO believes that the true purpose of music is to heal and inspire. As the iconic group dead prez says, it’s bigger than Hip Hop. Rappers, Singers, Teaching Artists, Educators and Event Hosts are only a few of the players on the NRO team. Using forms such as film making, graphic art, web design, live performance, curriculum building and workshop facilitation, NRO members look to be muses to numerous artists and thinkers who seek to affect positive change on the planet. More than artists and educators, the collective’s members are people dedicated to positive change through action. The high caliber artists who represent NRO have graced some of the most notable stages, such as The Apollo Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City and the Orpheum Theater in Boston. NRO has garnered a strong following in NYC and other locales throughout the USA. Cities from Dar Es Salam and Caracas to London and Tokyo have felt the collective’s creative presence. The audience is always in for a major experience when a New Rap Order artist is under the spotlight. NRO members have shared stages with artists like Afrika Bambaataa, KRS-One, Nas, Saul Williams, Supernatural, Jurassic Five and Van Hunt. New Rap Order focuses on being the vanguard of a new generation of great artists, musicians, filmmakers, educators, and activists.
