New Rising Sun

New Rising Sun

BandRockFunk

Time was it wasn’t rock if it didn’t have soul. And it wasn’t soul if it didn’t rock. New Rising Sun is set to wake up a music scene that’s forgotten. Pulling from rock, blues, and soul, New Rising Sun creates a sound that, while clearly is rock, is also not shy about its roots in other genres.

Biography

All four musicians had played with numerous bands with an array of styles before coming together to form NRS. Singer/songwriters Michael Turner and Lawrence Daversa had played between themselves music ranging from folk to blues, R&B, country, and everything between. Each lends his skills as a guitarist to the sound. Bassist Ibrahim (“E”) Jones had established himself as a roots based session musician extraordinaire playing everything from jazz to blues, often switching from standard bass guitar to an upright bass. Drummer Rico Grazioli comes from a musical family and had worked with several well established local rock bands before making the decision to join forces with his bandmates.

Influenced by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Ginger Baker, Prince, Doyle Bramhall II, and others who have set the path for an effective mix of rock, soul, rhythm & blues, the band is an expression of the musical spectrum in its entirety. Powerful lyrics, killer guitar riffs, funky bass grooves, and in- the-pocket drumming draw the listener into a space where the music is not only heard but felt.
