New Rules For Boats

New Rules For Boats

BandAlternativeCountry

Indie Pop with a twang. Brother/sister harmonies, melodic bass and pounding drums. Lyrically New Rules For Boats are storytellers putting you in right in the shoes of the protagonists.

Biography

Flying the flag high for Australian alt country, New Rules For Boats aren’t afraid of throwing some Perth pop into the mix as well. Brother and sister, Sean and Miranda Pollard are the vocal and lyrical heart of the band with a beautifully arranged harmonic interplay. With Ben Golby recently moving from bass to keys and banjo, combined with the melodic bass of recent addition Dan Grant and the enthusiastic dance driven beats of Joe Derwort, New Rules For Boats lay out music that gets stuck in your head and goes straight to your feet. With “Not Impressed” and “Skips On My Record” receiving lots of JJJ spins nationally and heaps of support from the country’s best community stations, New Rules For Boats are going from strength to strength.

Skips On My Record

Written By: Pollard, Pollard, Derwort, Golby

Aw lookout baby we‚re going on a drive I got my Mazda 85 and the weather‚s
looking fine. Aw dry those crying eyes ˆ it‚ll only make it worse. I‚ve got
$20 in my wallet you‚ve got $40 in your purse.
At the next roadhouse you can spit your teeth out.
At the next roadhouse you can wash your mouth out.
Aw tractors, sheep, a couple of farms, a hill that‚s steep.
The home of agriculture and the sowing of the seed.
Aw the engine burns and it all becomes a blur as I slowly fall asleep while
you man the drivers seat.
At the next roadhouse you can spit your teeth out.
At the next roadhouse you can wash your mouth out.
Aw lookout baby someone‚s coming up behind you in the left lane.
He wants to overtake but that would be a mistake because the road is like a
snake and now you‚re driving without brakes.
At the next roadhouse you can spit your teeth out.
At the next roadhouse you can wash your mouth out.

Ashes

Written By: Pollard, Pollard, Derwort, Golby

Who would want to face the only one to waste us?
And who has mind to make up when it plans to break us?
I’m not a charity
Don’t go trying your beliefs on me
When it all comes down,
Would you really want to hang around?

And our Ashes- would you float them on a breeze?
And our Ashes- would you take them on the sea?

Who would want to wake up, to when the stars forsake us?
And who would mind to wait so long for finding out if they’re what really creates us?
No, honestly
Everything that matters always happens to be…
When time runs out,
Would you really want to settle down?

And our Ashes- would you float them on a breeze?
And our Ashes- would you take them on the sea?
And our Ashes- is it something you’d believe?
All I ask is this decision lies with me

If your chosen path is true
Will your conscience be guiding you?
And if you lead yourself astray
Will every opportunity become a chance for you to right every mistake?

And our Ashes- would you float them on a breeze?
And our Ashes- would you take them on the sea?
And our Ashes- is it something you’d believe?
All I ask is this decision lies with me

Ten Cent Coins

Written By: Pollard, Pollard, Derwort, Golby

I sleep on a bed of roses, I planted it when I was young.
The pillow is a mountain, the mattress is a fountain.
I made my bed now I sleep in it. I am standing so tall.
Living on a high yeah living in the public eye.
Eye know you are aware of me do not hesitate.
Accidents like that are not mistakes.
I did not order attitude, attitude from you.
From you I get attitude, attitude from you.
I save up all my TEN CENT COINS in a jar by the rosary.
I aint a spender you can depend on me.
My parents are an apple tree I am the eye of their seed.
I know you are aware of me do not hesitate.
Accidents like that are not mistakes.
I did not order attitude, attitude from you.
From you I get attitude, attitude from you.
(I don‚t! I don‚t believe you!)
