Bio

    "ELGIN NEWSOME is a music composer singer/songwriter for all genre of music. Elgin’s relevant work experience and performances began in North Carolina at the age of nine, and continues throughout his life with inspirations from Freedom Jam and Free Fare Lance Abair.  Elgin participated in a variety of school events, which gave him notoriety as a singer/songwriter on the guitar and piano performing songs his musical compositions

“I Believe In Love,” and “Please Love Me.”He earned his B.S. degree in Commercial Music under the direction of Dr. Fred D. Tanner at Winston-Salem State University.

 

From 1981-present, Elgin teamed up with mentor Archie Bell as personal road manager and music consultant.  Archie and Elgin continues to collaborate on recording projects today.  The mid 80s Elgin joined the U.S. Navy and worked part-time at MicroStar during when he composed musical compositions “America I Love”, for his crewmembers of USS IOWA (BB 61), and “We Need a Leader,” recorded at Master Sound Studio.

 

In the 90s, life in Japan was explosive.  Elgin composed and performed “Route 16”, for the Japanese and American culture awareness.  The Armed Forces Radio Network Pacific interviewed Elgin and awarded the first airplay of “Route 16.”  Elgin performed “Route 16” at the Yokosuka Jazz Festival and numerous live jazz events throughout Japan, including demonstrating his unite jazz trombone style.

 

The late 90s, Elgin played jazz trombone with the Oklahoma City “Tinker Flying High Band.” He earned his M.A. in Computer Information Systems and began experimenting with electronic jazz trombone.  In 2002, Elgin played jazz trombone with GUAMs “Caliente Latin Jazz Band,” while in Hawaii Elgin played jazz trombone with a variety of jazz and big bands musicians. 

In 2011, Elgin formed “NEWS2MUSIC.LLC later launching his first solo singles “One Life To Live and Waiting On The Pains” for the “ONE LIFE” 2014 album.  Elgin’s songs are available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Beats, Deezer, Rdio, YouTube Music Key, Shazam, Bandcamp, SoundCloud and more.
