"Come out Swingin'"

new society of anarchists "come out swingin'"

Turkey Vulture Records, surely one of the more eclectic purveyors of heavy music active in the underground, has tossed into the public arena this slab of ballsy, come-drunk old school hardcore punk that hints at or embraces enough different flavors to keep it from being yet-another-punk-rock CD. The vocals are mostly rough, raw and throaty, with cleaner, shoutier stuff kicking in to back up, and the music is driven by mosh-heavy punky grooves. But when the music wants to hit a really hard breakdown, NSOA almost, at times, sounds like pre-metalcore hardcore and there is detectable influence from the metal realms. And, at least one time, a solo jumped out at me that had the flavor of just straight up rock. Also, there's along, ambient, moody guitar interlude near the end of this highly-listenable CD that's very engrossing. Thankfully, on "Come Out Swingin'", NSOA has generated a disc of punk that helps spice up a genre that is too infected with dime-a-dozen-ness.

New Society Of Anarchists - "Come Out Swingin' " (2004 Turkey Vulture Records)
I'll tell you what, these Midwest moshers are always on the money and waste no time in putting new releases out. Always consistent musically and always intense with their brand of rowdy-pouty, skanking, moshing, mayhemic Hardcore. Short and sweet like always, this release is another example of you don't need long songs to make a good point musically. All 11 songs on here are under 2½ minutes and a surprise acoustic short instrumental is also amongst the tracks called "Isolation" which is is something you wouldn't expect from a Hardcore band to be honest. NSOA doesn't hide anything from the listener and they are one of those bands that been aound for a long time that you can actually count on to deliver a solid album much like the way Overkill does. Fans of D.R.I., GBH, Discharge and old ST will enjoy these guys to the fullest.

"New Society of Anarchists Come out Swingin'"

Translated to English from Italian-

Classic band in style "all in family", the New Society Of Anarchists portacolori of forts and emblemati messages to us sociopoliti to us are made, conjugating much good the irriverenza of punk with the abrasiveness the all extreme of the hardcore and the mosh. After four official jobs in study and a caterva of concerts in turn for the world of shoulder to monster of the field like M.O.D and D.R.I, ours they decide to lock in itself newly in study in order to give birth the nth sonorous slaughter of their career, a.tito it "Like Out Swingin". Once again, therefore, it is found to us to a violent and direct, decidedly indigestible album from the lyric point of view and tremendously being involved under the technical profile. Agreements very cure to you and always ficcanti solutions are the trademark of this job, conceived in full tuning and under the new and terremotate auspice of tour a promozionale one. Brani emblematic us like "Rubber Crutch", violent and simply irresistibile, "With Blind Eyes", from the implications absolutely mosh, and also "Isolation", short and above suspicion interludio instrumental gives to the listener one immense range of emotions, all absolutely online with the qualitative standards you of band the American. Still a center, therefore, for this splendid contemporary truth of international the punk/hardcore scene. Must for all fan of the band, a disc and one formation to discover for all the others... - Metallo Italiano-Maurizio Gabelli

Hard-f#cking-Core. This is how it was meant to be. This is what hardcore means to me. Over the course of the last 20 years the definition of hardcore has evolved into a style of music that emotes the pains of growing up and living through tough situations and tough decisions and often the results of making those decisions badly. It also has come to impart a certain street wise and working class ethos. Hardcore music to me is a justifiable anger at an often unjust system and a rally for brotherhood and unity. Please don’t confuse this with the sometimes negative side effects such as violence and racism. N.S.O.A doesn’t stand for that. This is directly from their website “We try to set a higher standard on ourselves so we can overcome the pettiness, the racism, the gangs, the trends, and the injustice that we get our noses rubbed in every day…” New Society of Anarchists is hardcore for a better tomorrow. “Come Out Swingin’” is the new release from Wisconsin’s New Society of Anarchists, a band that is bringing hardcore punk rock back to its glory. The new disc is 11 power house tracks of pain and struggle featuring brutal hardcore guitar riffs, rock solid bass, great vocal interplay and wicked mosh break downs. After 15 years on the hardcore scene, New Society of Anarchists presents themselves as an unstoppable force for the future of hardcore. Standout tracks on the new CD include the brutal title track as well as tracks 8 “Benedict Arnold” and 10 “Persona Non Grata” The Z. family certainly pull no punches on “Come Out Swingin’” and don’t expect that they will any time soon. Though they are from the Midwest, N.S.O.A has a very East Coast Hard Core feel to them. I’d recommend this CD for fans of SOD/MOD, Madball, Sick Of It All. This one is not to be missed.

Bio

Brotherhood and Unity. In a new scene that seems to despise togetherness and a united front, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS doesn't let up on the message "UNITE THE KIDS, UNITE THE SCENE". We try to set a higher standard on ourselves so we can overcome the pettiness, the racism, the gangs, the trends, and the injustice that we get our noses rubbed in every day...

NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS came together in 1990 when Zakk and Arlo (brothers) asked Jason (cousin) to start a band. They found a drummer and started setting up shows through out Milwaukee. In '93-'94 they put out their first self titled cd "N.S.A.". Having creative difficulties, the drummer was dismissed.

Disappointed but not discouraged, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS pushed on, continuing to hone their misunderstood style of hard core, thrash and punk. In '96 they put out "SLAM! STOMP! MOSH! CRUSH!". This powerful CD landed them a slot on the '96 VANS WARPED TOUR giving the band their first taste of the road and breaking them into the national circuit.

After the WARPED TOUR, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS went back into the studio to record "RIOT GUN", the band's third release. Before "RIOT GUN" was released, the drummer was dismissed because he was unable to continue touring.

So the search for a new drummer began. NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS had been in this position before. They knew they needed someone with a lot of heart and passion for music. Someone that felt a part of the family. Augie was playing in an upcoming local band. NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS liked his style and asked him to become part of NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS. Augie joined the band and right away Zakk, Arlo, and Jason could feel a reborn sense of untamed energy. So through out '97 and '98 NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS played the local circuit and toured independently throughout the U.S.

After being on the road, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS hit the studio in 1999 and put out a powerful and aggressive CD entitled "GAGGED BY THE FLAG". This album had the energy and power the band was looking for with vocals in your face telling you like it is backed by 10 million watts of rage driven music pounding it into your head like a jackhammer. NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS toured with "GAGGED BY THE FLAG" throughout 1999 and 2000 playing hi-energy shows throughout the United States making a name where ever they could.

NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS toured in 2001 independently and was chosen to go on tour with heavy music legends M.O.D. through the U.S. in support of their latest release "THE FEW, THE PROUD, THE BRUTAL" produced by NYC hard-core legend BILLY MILANO of S.O.D./M.O.D. fame who has produced such legendary bands as M.O.D., AGNOSTIC FRONT, MARAUDER, SCAR CULTURE, etc. "THE FEW, THE PROUD, THE BRUTAL" has received rave reviews from such sources as Rolling Stone Magazine calling it "one of the best and heaviest albums to come out of the Midwest in recent years" and Metal Maniacs Magazine stating the album's power to move listeners of heavy music. Several well known icons have given "THE FEW, THE PROUD, THE BRUTAL" great review including AGNOSTIC FRONT's Roger Miret, SICK OF IT ALL's Craig Satari, S.O.D./M.O.D.'s Billy Milano, as well as several others.

In 2002 and 2003, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS was chosen to be the supporting act for heavy music legends D.R.I. on their 20th anniversary tour "20 DIRTY ROTTEN YEARS" throughout the U.S. which has been one of the band's greatest accomplishment yet. Doing two consecutive U.S. tours with D.R.I. Stemming from the east coast to the west coast and back, NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS captured audiences nation-wide with their original brand of hard core making new friends and fans making a strong name for themselves like never before.

In early 2004 NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS spent many relentless hours in the studio recording, mixing, and mastering new material for their album "COME OUT SWINGIN'", on of the best and most brutal products the band has released. The band received high praise and recognition for "Come Out Swingin'" from members of the hard-core, punk, and metal community including HATEBREED'S JAMEY JASTA, M.O.D./S.O.D.'s Billy Milano as well as from countless fans worldwide.

"COME OUT SWINGIN'" broke new ground as the title track rose in the charts becoming the NUMBER ONE download on MYSPACE.com for over 10 consecutive weeks over the summer of 2005 beating out all bands of all genres estimating well over 750,000 downloads giving NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS some huge exposure.

NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS toured independently with "COME OUT SWINGIN'" in 2004 and 2005 and and the band continues to push onward with shows throughout the 2006 show season.

NSOA is currently in the studio working on their brand new album "FOR THE FORGOTTEN" which includes 20 brutal and powerful new tracks that focus on the struggles of the outcasts of society, personal hardships, and politics, just to name a few.
