"This voice that springs out of the compositions of Perelman that seems at times a meditative improvisation yet always keeping the complex from that serves as a melody that is always carrying the listener along. This unique voice resulted from the dedicated playing of an assembly from the best musicians of the Israeli world music scene. It seems that devotion is the best word to describe the manner in which the music is preformed the beauty is in the delicate texture of this acoustic experience…."
"This album demands of it's listeners to come into it's world free of the habits of immediate sonic satisfaction those who listen carefully will find it's beauty greatly worth while" - Erez Shvaitzer, Haaretz 24/9/2008

Whether dabbling in traditional Indian music or playing contemporary Western material, the Israeli composer seems to always teeter his tunes on the edge of complexity. He’s gone as far as to modify his guitar to sound like a sitar, strumming dazzling melodies in the process.
Born in Israel in 1967, Amir Perelman has been playing string instruments since age 15. He grew up in the USA and Israel and has been living for the last ten years in the Netherlands and France. Bio
Founded in Israel during 2007 with the aim of shedding new light and bringing out the new from the old, preserving the essence of the traditional Jewish musical heritage yet elevating it to a new platform. The New Song of Jerusalem Project is a distilled expression of the work of Amir contemporary repertoire. The ensemble's new appearance features Jewish 'niguns' from both the Sephardic and Ashkenazic traditions spanning over vast time periods. These selected ancient refrains which have been sounded for hundred of years in the diasporas of Israel. The adaptations of the melodies draw their inspiration from the realm of "renovating music", emphasizing the virtuosity of each individual musician and the ability of the ensemble to bring about a "new song" with unique artistic expression during every concert.
