Lyrics

Become the Road

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

Become the road, you travel.
Grip the wheel and hold on steady.
The wanting, the waiting
to fuckin' get there already.

Fragile lives splatter on glass,
dingy town attractions roadside.
Your soundtrack, your vigilance
on a journey of unclear signs.

Say goodbye.

Strangers

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

Strangers passing through the night.
Just a moment in time.
A wish on a star, a darkened mind.
His suit of armor and careful smile.

A time of food, words and wine.
Luck and life crises intertwined.
With bags swept under our eyes.
It remained the greatest prize.

Secrets come into light
Lovers cannot help but fight
Til the end of all time
Will I be, will you be mine?

There were our suns, there was the moon.
In a candle flickered room.
The road is long when you are blind.
But our hearts gladly do their time.

Stop & Go

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

So stop and go
all the time, growing old.
Regrettable
and forgettable times become lines, lies.

Hope and dreams clash
with reality, your family tree.
Will the shadow win?
Such potential. What could have been?

Don’t know why, don’t know how
to leave home, direction unknown.
What is this life? Can’t decide
to love it or leave it.

What will you do?
All those studies I thought you knew.
Time to update your thoughts,
become all the things you know you’re not.

Early to rise, late to bed
cuz there’s never any time.
Could you say you’re happy?
Or just content to be? Breathe.

Don’t know why, don’t know how
to leave home, direction unknown.
What is this life? Can’t decide
to love it or leave it.
Settle down, keep in touch.
Do not lose, don’t give up.

One More Day

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

There are a million ways
in the course of a day
for you to make your grave.
What doesn’t kill you now
will surely kill you then,
you’ve got to have a plan.
And if the world ended tomorrow
what would you think
about your past mistakes
and your future’s stakes
unfulfilled?

And you could go
at anytime you know
so for the moment you let go.
And they would cry,
but there you’d lie,
so make your life worth living.

Even if it’s just for one more day.

You are a part of your past
and the generation gap,
it’s all in how you react.
You’re always waiting in line,
do you never ever have the time,
Or are you always just fine?
But if the world ended tomorrow
what would you think
about your past mistakes
and your future’s stakes
unfulfilled?

And you could go
at anytime you know
so for the moment you let go.
And they would cry,
but there you’d lie,
so make your life worth living.

Even if it’s just for one more day.

Bad Robot

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

Another night looking for
some diversion cuz you’re bored.
And you know, it gets old.

Tempted with what you can’t have.
The rush and you keep going back.
And it’s bad, and it’s bad.

It’s what you know, your darkest shadow
won’t let you love yourself too much.

All of your lines in a row.
Habits to have and to hold.
All alone, all alone.

Rear View

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

Think about the ones that got away,
all the things you could never say.
Is life what you thought it’d be,
at the tender age of thirty-three?

Stop yourself from making another mistake.
But oh, how you love that ache.
Oh, how you love that ache.

If you could take it all back,
put yourself right back on track.
What would change if she had stayed?
If it had never rained that day?

To the trees, to the sea, to the lake,
every morning you awake,
before the last earthquake.
Before the last earthquake.

If You Change

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

The fading out, the fading in.
Same mistakes, same tired friends.
He’s stumbling, again he falls.
One more time against the wall.

But dear, if you change,
things will never be the same.

The dreary room, a prison cell.
All in his head, redundant hell.
What could be his great escape.
Could alterations ever take?

But dear, if you change,
things will never be the same.

Circle

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

Here we go again
one more time around the circle.
Round around we go
one more time, it goes forever.

Watching as the world spins fast
watching, waiting for a signal,
something bold and big and red
to glue the pieces all together.

And if we go too far,
and if we go too far,
we might just lose.

There you go again,
spin the wheel and see where it lands,
place all your money all your bets all your success,
you do not grow if it’s only chance.

And if we go too far,
and if we go too far,
and if we go too far,
we might just lose.

They say the end is near.
Stop the traffic, sit around in fear.
Blessed be this infallible machine
til she comes to wash our souls clean.

Spiraling and spinning fast,
dizzy, desperate for a cease fire.
But do you know how to stop?
Does it ever stop?

Unstable Ground

Written By: Leanne Kelly (New Spell)

I grew up on unstable ground
ever slipping into the sea
All the cracks and bends
and dips and slides persist.

Though men try in vain
with cement and science
to pave over and straighten
the crooked lines.

Do we abandon our morality
when we give in?
To the pursuit and conformity
of pleasure and sin?

It’s hard to see through the fog
to tell the dreams from the real
to marry words with actions, cameras, lights.
But who can fight the most P.C. fight?

There are some who
cling to their ideals of chivalry and true love.
They attempt to capture a mirage
and struggle struggle.

Or sell the honor of their souls
for minimum wage
a cell, a computer, or maybe a big break
but your pretty boys are always a mistake.

This city of angels, this place of stars,
of airy confidence and credit cards.
This city of bridges, of the greenest grass,
extends it’s hands to the cliffs,
poisons the water with final breaths.

I grew up on unstable ground,
ever slipping into the sea.
All the crack and bends
and dips and slides persist.
