Bio

After forming the current lineup in late 2009, New York Minute have emerged onto the Liverpool music scene very quickly and have made a big impact. They recently reached the final of the university battle of the bands where they were narrowly beaten, and followed up that performance with a headlining show at the Zanzibar Club during the same week. Since then they have also performed at the Masque in Liverpool (fomerly the BarFly)
At the Battle of the Bands final, representatives from Antipop records praised the band's originality, as well as performance and stage presence.

The band's roots come from the childhood friendship of Mike F (guitar) and Joe (singer) and various bands around Oldham featuring the pair. When they came to university, Mike D (bass) joined the group. After a couple of experiments with other musicians, Chris was asked to join on drums, after only turning up to fill in for one practice.

New York Minute instantly clicked as a group, and recorded their first demo of Downtown Dreams, a new song, within 2 weeks.
Joe's unique vocals bring an indie edge to the music, and his lyrics are catchy and deep without being depressing.
Chris brings a harder edge to the group, and a lot of volume. Adept at many drumming styles, he ensures the band stay in time, while not resorting to the standard 4/4 beats all the time and providing rhythmic diversity
The 2 Mikes play off each others riffs really well, and often give an added twist to each others riffs. For example, on Youth is Wasted, Mike F started with a punky chorus riff, which Mike D added a funky verse to. Another of our songs, Gravity, started off being a straight hard rock song until Mike F added a bluesy riff over the verse.

The band have done an EP featuring 4 studio recordings, and one live recording, as well as an acoustic version of the EP to show the diversity of the band.
