Nick Messitte was born in 1985. The son of a classical organist and a pianist, Nick developed an interest in music at an early age. Living in New York City provided him with the perfect setting to study both traditional and avant-garde styles of music. After attending school both at Manhattan School of Music (preparatory division) and the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Nick moved back to New York City in the spring of 2005. As both a composer and a performer, Nick has played with up-and-coming musicians such as Devin Grey, Joel Grippe, Jon Birkholz, and Daniel Levine. He has also played with seasoned jazz legends, such as Gary Thomas, Mike Formanek, and Paul Bollenback. Performing with various combos or as a solo guitarist, Nick is equally comfortable playing traditional jazz as he is with playing fiery avant-garde repertoire. His music is complementary to any occasion.
