Bio

Nick Depuy is an evocative and haunting singer-songwriter. Nick boasts a unique sound that is rooted in old time folk, jazz, rock and blues. But his influences do not define him, as he puts his own stamp on rock, pop and hip-hop in the songs that he writes and sings.

The Big Fly is a collective of versatile musicians assembled for their unique ability to bring Nick's scattershot songwriting style to full fruition. They comprise of drummer, bassist, trombone player, backup singers, and electric guitarist/mandolin/banjo player. They're chemistry brings new life to the Blues, Jazz, Americana Folk, and Celtic forms that Nick loves to expand upon and pay homage to.

Nick was first mentored by the late Paul Leka, the songwriter who co-wrote Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye and Green Tambourine and discovered Harry Chapin and Dan Fogelberg. Nick was also fortunate to have his talent recognized by, and to work extensively with, industry giant Bruce Lundvall, the retired chairman of the Blue Note Label Group/ Universal Records, and former President of Electra and Columbia Records. Prior to Bruce’s recent passing, Nick was honored to share the stage with Norah Jones and Dianne Reeves to honor Mr. Lundvall when he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jazz Foundation of America.

He has already had the great privilege of opening for Hall of Fame singer songwriter, Jimmy Webb, Neil Finn of Crowded House, the first year winner of The Voice, Javier Colon, jazz trumpet player Kermit Ruffins, and art-rock legends Procol Harum, receiving standing ovations for his performances. He has been featured on WPLR 99.1, on ABC's Channel 8, on CBS WTIC 1080 and other cable network shows. Nick has played numerous venues including Fairfield Stage One, the Bijou Theater, the Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival, The Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, and Joe’s Pub in NYC.

Nick’s first EP "Right on Time" is available on Spotify among other streaming platforms.

His first album "Don't Be Sorry" which showcases his band "The Big Fly" is also available on all platforms. And he's since released a number of singles through all platforms as well.

Singles include: "Dragonfly" "My Final Bow" "Holy Roller" and "All Your Christmas Wishes"

Having penned music and lyrics to 60 songs and counting, he has several more themed EP’s and full albums in development.

He will be performing at various venues in the Connecticut/New York area, as well as Philadelphia and Washington DC. Nick is also available to play private engagements on request.
