Thought provoking. mood changing, honest and raw song-writing. Dirty Country music with an edge to it. Poetically beautiful and strong. Will hold your heart with a gentle squeeze, yet transport your emotions to the very core of it's existence. It will move you, and it will make you think.

Biography

Signed as an artist to EMI Music Publishing (Ether) in Los Angeles (2001), Nick has travelled, performed and written music around the world. From 2002-2009 he composed the music & sound for a number of Theatre, Film & TV projects. Most notably his scores for award winning films like “Katoomba” and “The Mechanicals” to name a few. His TV scores have been heard most recently on Ch. 9 and Foxtel in crime show “C.I.A”
His music and writing skills are diverse and range from beautiful and moving classical scores for Film and TV to hard edgy electronic tracks (see www.nickarnold.com.au) to his newly anticipated 5 track EP “from the trees I see a circus” which is a stripped back and extremely honest folk sounding work consisting of guitar, vocals and harmonica.
Constantly trying to push his own boundaries in song writing and styles of music to communicate with people, Nick sources his inspiration from personal stories and interactions and also his passion for the environment. He has recently signed up with literary agent Rusherfield for a series of environmental kids books aged at 4-5 year olds. The story of a young Japanese jellyfish that travels the oceans.
His music has a raw honesty and beauty that bares a depth you feel when you know that something is pure and truthful. He can hold you with his voice, and the stories he tells, or with his string arrangements, or the beautifully simplistic tracks of his EP where a lonely harmonica howls through his music.
You can feel his emotions churning and searching for answers.
It will move you.....and it will make you think.

Lyrics

Mother (there must be love)

Written By: Nick Arnold

I'm walking,
I'm solo,
my head hurts the noise grows,
Is this all we are ?
Take a minute now look around,
We are all at once joined to ground,
And she'll never let us walk alone.
It's easy just breathe in,
She'll take you just give in,
The warmest heart of all,
And while we point and fight,
She forgives,
And all the blood we've spilt,
Through the years,
Still she'll never let us walk alone.
So this is our backyard,
And are you that proud ?
Rubbish fills the air,
And all we care about is ourselves,
Can't you hear her crying to herself,
Still she'll never let us walk alone.
(How long..how long,
There must be love)
There must be love
So open your heart door,
And trust in your neighbour,
If only for a day,
And in that time we'll try to become,
A little closer than we have come,
And she'll be waiting,
To let us walk alone.
(How long..how long,
There must be love)

Poster Eyes

Written By: Nick Arnold

Shouldn't have Poster Eyes,
The cold just stays in her eyes,
Well wouldn't you have ?
Nearer now nearer everytime,
Drunken like you've seen your wall,
Again
But I don't know this,
(No I don't know this,
No I don't know this,
No I don't know)
They say that your based in Rome,
Your the next best thing,
Your the next best thing.
But I don't know this.
Take's away your life this time,
Don't ever let it ride,
To the reason why your faith is a lie.
But I don't know this,
(No I don't know this,
No I don't know this,
No I don't know)
Woman like you say your home,
Woman like you say your home.
But I don't know this.
No I don't know this.
No I don't know.
No I don't know.

SGH

Written By: Nick Arnold

Boy woke up with an evil head,
Seasons unlike the school yard man,
Feels his way up on a steel grey heart,
His Mama didn't know what he had to give,
She just turned her back on her cryin' boy,
She figured everything's fine just pay the bills,
Now 20 bucks held back he did a week,
And after 3 months down he had a piece,
Now he's feelin his way up on a steel grey heart,
Walks his way up to his bedroom door,
Passing pictures of his father he knew no more,
Told he left town when he was just a kid,
Well OK,
This is my life,
This is my way and its agitated,
Cause its, easy to,
easy to walk away now,
Turn my back on you,
Turn my back on you everyday,
Cause this my life and this my way,
And its agitated, agitated
This my life, and this is my way,
And its agitated, agitated.
