Bio
This winter, producer (Boy Without God, When Walls Are Built, Shira Erlichman) and recording artist (Los Del Agua), Nick Boyajian, releases his debut solo EP, More To Life. Written over the course of three years, the EP serves as a compilation of experiences in Nick Boyajian's life - a coming of age story, if you will. His musical styling is a modern take on a blend of classical prestige, and Nick's work often dances between the playful ditties of Donovan while engaging the harmonic complexity of The Beach Boys; it alludes to the many stages of the Beatles' career while infusing the Latin stylings of Caetano Veloso. A veritable petrie dish of musical influence, Nick's psychedelic blend of diversified folk defies simple classification.
His lyrical inspiration runs the gamut of his life experience from the superficially amusing to the tragically affecting. Songs like "Lucie"-a tongue-in-cheek ode to a fleeting Parisian romance-typify the 25 year-old's man-child joviality while "Dad's Poem", which pleads the case of Nick's late father-wrongfully incarcerated as a result of his chronic pain and stigmatized reliance on medication-broaches the personal tragedies that shape each and every one of us. The title track, "More To Life" reconciles these two competing dispositions, trying them together in a song-a mantra-meant to remind us not to let life pass us by in the face of obstacles, big or small.
Recorded by engineer Matt Freake at Nick's home studio and mastered by Paul Gold (The Dirty Projectors, Sufjan Stevens, Grizzly Bear), Nick is ready to embark on the next phase of his career.
