Bio

Nick Byer was born in Miami Florida. He grew up in Nassau Bahamas, where he attented Queens College. With its open air atmosphere Q.C. was a place that encouraged creativity, "it was before the internet and reality T.V., there were alot of outdoor activities and alot of fighting, I loved it" It was in his last year of elementary school where he was first introduced to Rock music. It was the year of "grunge music" and this had an affect on him. "It was like a musical explosion, there was alot of anger in the air, and groups like NWA and Nirvana dominated the charts. The first time I saw Kurt Cobain on tv he sounded like a mad man he took the human experience to another level' this planted the seeds of rock music in my heart."
When he was 13 he was shipped of to the boarding school Darlington in Rome, Georgia. This was a major culture shock. It was an international school in the middle of rural Georgia and his first exposure to a different side of life. The mixing of cultures had an affect on his view of the world, "nothing was really conclusive just evolving. " I mean u have some guy who supports the KKK living next to someone from NYC projects. You'd think there would be bedlam, but it really wasant, Im not saying it was any kind of fucking utopia, but it defnitley showed you what type of world we lived in;-one filled with people who share different beliefs." For the most part, Nick was a drifter, he didnt care much for school eventually loosing his tennis scholarship.
His junior year of highschool he attended Saddlebrook Academy where his roomate was Andrew Hendryx the mandolinist and co founder of the acoustic country band Yarn. Here Nick was first introduced to the guitar. He also introduced him to Coltrane, Dylan, and Medeski Martin and Wood and Frank Zappa. With these groups Nick learned a differnet approach to music "it didnt always have to be commercial, it could be many other things" I learned alot from Andrew; he was relentless with the mandolin."
With a wealth of knowledge Nick was ready to record his first single Magic Touch. He and producer Walkine co wrote the song, hiring Emerson Swindord on lead Guitar and Jon Gass with the final mix.
