Why do we like this?
Nick Cincotta's take on The Chainsmokers' "Closer" has a really neat mixtape vibe to it which shows independent artists can continue to reinvent the wheel just by shifting a couple of elements.

While the whole is largely untouched aside from the removal of Halsey's vocals, Cincotta's verses on top of the "Closer" beat adds significant levels of bounce. Telling the story of an epic party over the future bass atmosphere, the vibe of Cincotta's edit has a lot in common with the young, poppy aesthetic of college party rappers like Chiddy Bang, Macklemore, early Asher Roth. This is the kind of rap that goes well with Solo cups of jungle juice in a dorm room lit with christmas lights.

And while that's incredibly specific, it's a feeling that's captured incredibly well in Nick Cincotta's flip and one that's even more relatable as teenagers go back to school in the coming weeks. - Indie Shuffle
