Bio

Nick Marks arrived in NYC with a show booked, two pairs of jeans and a guitar.

Within a week he bumped into and jammed with Keith Christopher (Georgia Satellites, The Yahoos, Ray Charles, Richie Havens). Keith was keen to put something together for an east village showcase so he rung his good friend James Wormworth one of NYC's finest drummer (Stevie Ray Vaughen, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, BB King) and found a local venue.

The three played two sold out shows which resulted in a local independent offering to fund an ep which was recorded at Dangerouse Studios NYC.

The two days in the studio also saw the wonderful Paul Tillotson add keys and Brooke Lundy add vocals (and as a result join the touring band). 48 hours later the Transatlantic Sunflower Session were complete. All songs were recorded live using vintage equipment (leslies, whirly's, hammonds, rickenbacker amps, beat up gibsons and tape machines etc).

The final record is an enchanting blend of heart breaking songs over dark melodies with songs offering tales of false hope, lost love, the great escape and the endless search for peace of mind.

The session was free flowing with Nick writing/recording non-stop for the 48 hours he had been given. Press and Industry have compared the records sound to a darker Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, Damien Rice and of course sixties Dylan. Nicks voice with its Cash/Cohen undertones combined with pauls keys create a deep soulful sound where as the country rock bass lines and delicate rolling beats of James give the music its strength and drive. The overall sound is something truely unique.

Two months later Nick returned to London to master the CD and get it ready for the long list of A&R departments who await its arrival.

Not even two months old, Nick Marks and Happy Hour already have a strong fan base, superb demo and genuine local buzz...

This buzz was confirmed with The bands re-appearance with two Sold Out NYC performances at The Living Room and Mercury Lounge just 4 weeks after Nicks departure from the city.

Label Interest continues to grow and with Nick now having recently joined Off The Menu Management & CEG Talent Agencies impressive roster (Tommy Lee, Marky Ramone, Grace Jones, DMX) things continue to look bright for the 24 year old south Londoner who managed to get lost in NYC.
