Biography

Born and raised in Colorado, Nick has had a fire burning inside with a love of and for music all his life. This fire has inspired countless songs which had to be written about the journey of life we all experience. Through the hills and valleys, the storms and peace, the love of music has carried him along. A friend who's always there! And Nick wants to share it all with you.

Nick has teamed up with producer/engineer John Macy to create his latest work of art “Fly Away.” “I don't just communicate my interpretation of my world...I strive to objectively observe and report what I see, both from an external and internal perspective.” Nick's last LP, "Lady in Pink", has received substantial airplay on KBCO, and many other Colorado radio stations including KGNU, KRFC, and KCSU. The song “Where Does The Road End?” was also selected by KBCO to be featured on the 2009 Bolder Boulder Compilation.

Lyrics

Drivin' Ran

Written By: Nick O'Connor

Praisin’ in the Driving Rain
-N. O’Connor

See the pain was so thick,
I couldn’t force my way through.
And my mind was so sick,
No hope for renewal.

I wore it on my face
with some sort of pride.
I just reached out for grace.
But is there shame in my eyes?

Chorus:

Come to me in the mornin’,
We’ll be head deep by the night.
Cause in my head it’s a-pourin
with no shore in sight.

Come to me with flowers,
I can’t help but think of my grave.
I may sound like a coward,
But I’m finally praisin’ in the drivin’ rain.

New Verse:

See, my hands were never clean.
And my feet were always tired.
It’s pot of trapped steam,
It’s a smolderin’ fire.

Chorus

Bridge:

OOOOO

Chorus

Runnin' in Jerusalem

Written By: Nick O'Connor

I was runnin' in Jerusalem,
It was the end of our days.
I was runnin' in Jerusalem,
Soaking in a cultured way.
As I was runnin', I was flyin'.
Straight to where David lay.

I was flyin' bove' Jerusalum,
They knew I weren't a threat.
I was flyin' bove' Jerusalum,
(My) spirit left me in cold sweat.
As I was flyin', I was cryin',
For the pain that's been blessed.

One measure through with Guitar solo.

New Verse:

I was runnin in Jerusalem,
Through the masses, goin' north.
I was runnin through Jerusalem,
Towards Damascus in a storm.
Gonna find a new way of livin',
Gonna make me new born.

One measure through with Guitar solo.

New Verse:

I'll be dancin' in Jerusalem,
Let the Lord take the lead.
I was runnin' in Jerusalum,
(I) found a thousand mouths to feed.
(I've) been movin' so long think i'll
stop by the Sea of Galilee.

Fly Away

Written By: Nick O'Connor

These tired eyes ain't always open,
Not every begging light can get through.
So when you told me that you loved me.
I didn't have any evidence of that truth.

These callused hands ain't always at work,
And when they are, it never feels enough.
Discouragement is my engine.
Outrage is the fuel of my bluff.

Chorus:

And I wait for you out hear,
Near my grave, with nothing clear.
I wait with wear and tare.
And I will fly away.

(2nd and 3rd time)
Oh glory, I will fly away.

New Verse:

This broken glass ain't too far below me,
I can't escape it without forsakin' it.
For I know I soon too must be shattered.
I guess I'll know when its time to quit.

Chorus

Bridge:

Tell me how much longer must I grow?
Tell me what the hell do I really know?
I feel old___,
And my patience growing thin.
Under sacrificial grins I begin to show.

And I will fly away.
Oh glory, I will fly away.

For You

Written By: Nick O'Connor

You could have saved me,
Bite the bullet and face me.
But you’re goin’ out now,
Feelin’ so proud of your life.

I could have warned you,
Blessed you with warm news.
But my head’s always in doubt,
But you, you found my sanity.

Chorus:

And I would crawl for you,
Under rapid fire.
Get to the next base, invite you in.

And I would die for you,
Under fierce desire,
We may not have won the race, but at least we felt alive.

New Verse:

You said you once knew me,
But looked back and reviewed me.
And I changed into the man,
Rushing towards the wrath of self-sabotage.

I wish it was I who refused you,
Wish I could have renewed you,
But I was sick, and you were weak,
And we found ourselves out of reach.

Bridge:

Oh, Love of mine.
Oh, Love of mine.
Oh, Love of mine.

Chorus
