"Music Watch: Nick Rodrigues"

When it comes to breakout stars like Justin Bieber and newcomer Greyson Chance, younger is better. Well, one such youngster who really knows how to rock is 13yr old Nick Rodrigues. With influences like BB King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, it’s obvious this kid’s got more to offer than your typical overproduced bubblegum pop star. -

Single - 'Wake Up Kid'

When you see see a 13 year old....when you talk to him, or hear him're confused, because he's an old soul....seemingly too full of spirit, words and song for his 13 years. He was raised on BB King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton and later the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. He sang before he talked. His Dad used to play guitar, and Nick would sing along, not even knowing the meaning of some of the lyrics that swooned out of his little mouth. Nick began voice lessons at age 5, played violin for a couple of years after that, and then switched to guitar when he was 9, which he continues to play. Nick has performed since he was 5. Now, at age 13 and able to pick and choose what he likes to listen to, Nick's music interests now range from Queen to Justin Timberlake and Rob Thomas. Nick recently went to LA to record two songs with composer producer Jimmy Messer, and continues to land acting roles in film and television. Nick's talents are endless.....and are magnified by the fact that he is just 13 years old. Nick was the winner of the 2009 Calgary Junior Idol (13 to 17 year olds). Thanks to everyone who cheered Nick on from near and far. I 2009 Nick also won The Masters College Talent competition. Nick has performed for many charity events and fundraisers and will be performing in the 2010 Calgary Stampede Talent Search as well as the Sled Island Music Festival and the Premier Dance Academy Competition Showcase.
