"Press Quotes on Swan"

"Every so often out of nowhere comes a talent that cannot be denied. Coming off a 6 week residency at CBGB's Mountjoy Soul Slam, Nick Swan transfixed audiences with his fiery, almost flamenco-like style guitar playing. Swan's blistering energy, and lyrical poignancy are an act not to be missed." - Jimmy Mack, Peoples Records

"His music is characterised by thought-provoking lyrics and outstanding guitar playing in a range of styles from folk to flamenco, and he's built a solid reputation as a warm and charismatic live performer." - Icarus Radio, London

"Raw rock vocal energy and fine guitar work are the hallmarks of Nick Swan's performance." - Joe Budnick, President, UMO Music, NYC

"Swan's husky, Springsteen-like vocal style makes a great mix (with his) fervent or laid back acoustic sound" - Ryan Sisung, The Daily Helmsman, Memphis

"When Nick Swan, a singer-songwriter from Tennessee, played a Radiohead song during his set, Chunk Rodríguez, a heavyset local rapper with a sweater vest and a quick smile, sat on the cushioned bench opposite the bar, bobbing his head." - Evan Abramson, NY Times

"A terrific songwriter with a braveness to explore a genre that is largely dying. (His) songs have a warmth and a catchiness that keeps them running through my mind for days." - Jeremy Parker, rock critic, Knoxville, TN - NY Times, et al

Bio

Nick Swan is a New York City-based artist. Originally from Tennessee, he carries the soul and musical tradition of the South within him, while adding the passion and urgency of the city. He sings and writes songs, but prefers not to use the term "singer/songwriter" to describe himself. He is a maker and player of music, whether solo, with his band, or sitting in with other talented NYC artists. He's been featured in the New York Times and on NY1 and been the featured artist on London's Icarus Radio. His videos have garnered over a million views on YouTube. He’s become a highly respected songwriter in NYC, and his songs have been covered by such artists as Erin Sax Seymour and Renato Buchert. He's played at nearly every major club in NYC, including B.B. King's, the Highline Ballroom, the Iridium Jazz Club, Rockwood Music Hall, and, before it closed, he was part of a two-month residency at the legendary CBGB's. Outside of NYC, he's played everywhere from Beale Street in Memphis to the terraces of Italy and the pubs of London. He's a true American songwriter; the last of a dying breed, the first of a new creed. He is Nick Swan, and he's here to stay.
