Bio
"Heartbreaking songs for midnight whiskey drinkers"
After working with Mark Wallis, producer of the Smiths, U2 and Travis on demo material, in May 2010 Nick Williams released his debt E.P. 'Cold Part of Town', painting a picture of confetti filled weddings, late night bars, empty streets, of loss and hope.
Touring this album solidly throughout 2010 Williams performed alongside folk hero 'Willy Mason', 'Ben Howard' (Brighton Komedia) and 'The Magic Numbers' (Camden Barfly). With a distinct voice, often likened to Anthony and the Johnsons, a male Joni Mitchell or Tom Waits without the 40 a day habit. Williams is tender yet powerful, bruised yet honest.
An Impressive live performer Williams layers vocal harmonies on echo delay chambers whilst switching between mandolin, guitar and piano. He's joined on stage by James Stathatos on double bass who weaves intricate lines underpinning and driving the music. Completing the trio is Dan Hodd bringing soaring violin parts and backing vocals.
With influences drawn from Poetry, Jazz and Pop music Nick Williams brings a sound that is instantaneously old and new.
Influences include: Tom Waits, Sylvia Plath, Andrew Motion, Portico Quartet, Bjork, Ted Huges, Rufus Wainwright, Elliott Smith, Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Kate Bush and Radiohead to name a few.

Daisy Behagg, Live music scene
"Broadly speaking Nick's music has an ambient feel to it, which is appropriate considering his nostalgic lyrics. His style is heavily supported by his talented piano playing."
