Bio
It all began with me giving my parents a serious badgering to buy me a guitar for my 9th birthday! I took a few lessons and learned a heap of tunes but soon decided to discard such "classics" as "On top of Old Smokey", venturing instead into the unchartered territory of my own creations! I first went on stage at the age of 13, playing in front of 300 people. Soon after, I started performing in musicals and an opera, at London's Covent Garden. After being in various formations, I brought out my first album, "Intimacy", in 1999.
My inspirations include Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Cold Play, Kate Bush. I never feel "torment" in writing! It just seems to "come" on command - first the music then the lyrics, which just seem to "slot in", surprising me every time when I realize just how truthful they are about what I'm experiencing in my life at that time.
One of the songs on my playlist, "Could it be the Irish in me?", was recently released as a single. In all, over 40 songs written or co-written by myself have been released by other artists, including 7 hit singles. I have often been asked to write songs for other, well-known artists, based on my ability to "make the words ring" and sometimes for the "second degree"nature of the lyrics. Lyrics include adaptations from French to English (or English to French) for reputed singers.
As a singer/songwriter, I have extensive stage work experience, including album promotional gigs around France and Belgium and various other gigs in the UK, USA and Caribbean. I perform alone or with guest musicians, singing mainly my own material (pop/rock/folk).
I am currently working on a new album, of my most recent material, some of the songs of which can be heard on my playlist. I currently have 5 produced songs but have the material for a whole album.
