Norwegian reggae artiste Nico D´s single, Ruff Times, featuring Jah Mason is getting regular rotation on local radio and the song has begun to pop up on reggae charts on the island.
The song, which is distributed by Tads/Kontractor Music, speaks to the spiritual and economic challenges facing the world at this time. The artiste returned to Norway, and last week opened for Sizzla in Oslo, Norway. While Nico D was in the island, he performed at Passa Passa, Weddy Weddy and Club Jamaica Jamaica in Runaway Bay with Capleton. He will return in December to do some of the major shows. Contractor, who was hired to co-ordinate his public relations while he was in the island, was pleased with the artiste´s development. "People in Jamaica recognise his message of love and peace. He is true to the message in the music", Contractor said. Nico D is poised to be one of the frontrunners of conscious reggea in the Scandinavian countries. Nico D, alias Nicolas Albert Holter, has a more international upbringing than most. He was born in Paris 27 years ago and moved frequently from country to country with his family before settling in Oslo, Norway. Norwegian reggae artist Nico D with historic #1 hit in Jamaica!
Nico D’s massive hit single “Ruff Times” feat. Jamaican music star Jah Mason has taken Jamaica by storm, hitting the reggae single chart as # 1 after twentytwo consecutive weeks on the list – an achievement never done before by a north European reggae artist!
Ruff Times has been listed by Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) P3 & MP3 (radio) were he has stayed on for 9 weeks and counting. Nico D has also got heavy rotation at NRK (TV) Svisj and MTV Nordic as well as being played by over 400 college radio channels in the USA. The hit single is currently number 14 on The New York Top 30 Reggae Chart as well as number 13 on the San Fransisco Top 30 Reggae Chart, climbing week by week.
