Nicolas Alvarez Band

Nicolas brings a rare sense of elegance, tried-by-fire composure, and a gritty street funk to his music. His artistic ingenuity expresses itself in his incomparable technique, and an extraordinary ability to imbue his music with originality and strength.
Nicolas Alvarez began playing drums with his school concert band and taking private music lessons at the Colombian Conservatory. In his early years he led his own groups and was equally in demand as a clasical percussionist and as a drummer.
Nicolas has joined jazz and fusion bands in Colombia, England and Japan and playing in numerous concerts across these countries.
In Tokyo he has joined Jazz groups with some important artists such Stanley Gilbert (b), Jim Murray (p), and Raiji Kawaguchi (d).
