Dubbed by rock legend Steve Miller as having “the voice of an angel,” Austin performer Nicole Gilbert has since been compared to legends Reba McEntire and Wynonna Judd by Insite magazine. Soulful and strong, yet smooth as silk, her sound is an evolution from raw bones folk to consuming rhythmic passion. Her songs speak of sweet simplicity and turn into edgy hard-driving rock anthems in the next.
Originally from a classical background, Nicole now draws her influences from legendary songwriters such as Paul Simon, John Prine and Patty Griffin. On her debut album, Butterfly Wine, Nicole pays tribute to John Prine by covering his song “You Mean So Much To Me.”
