Bio

She’s known as one of the few female guitar players that you can actually say, “shreds on guitar”. Gaining respect of the male dominated industry of guitar she is often compared to a younger version of “Lita Ford”.

Her name is Nicole Starr and her story begins in a little town of Abilene, Texas. After exposure to such bands as Ozzy, Dokken, Judas Priest, and Motley Crue, at an early age, Nicole knew playing guitar was what she wanted to do for a profession. Learning a few simple chords from her father who plays bass, Nicole continued on her own to learn to play guitar by ear. Studying techniques from her idols George Lynch, Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee, she quickly started picking up the hard rock style.

Her first guitar, described by Nicole as a "trashy Epiphone strat model with a totally dead 12th fret" was soon replaced after working odd jobs with a $700.00 1967 Gibson Flying V. Starting her first band at the age of fifteen she played in and out of bars all over Abilene until realizing playing with people her own age was not going to go anywhere. Handpicking the best musicians in the area Nicole formed another band at age seventeen; this band Vyper would be the one to make her shine. Being the only guitarist and playing mostly Classic Rock cover-tunes, Vyper toured all through Texas and gained a following with fans remembering the “Chick Guitar Player”. After about two years of steady gigging the band disbanded due to different musical viewpoints.

Yet again Nicole didn’t let that stand in her way, she re-formed Vyper again this time with new band members and things took off like a rocket. From playing the Blues and Rock Gazette Awards show to doing Photo Sessions with well-known photographers around Texas, Nicole decided it was time to move to a bigger city and start taking her career up a notch. Now eighteen years old and relocated in Dallas, Texas, Nicole has been doing solo work and collaborating with other artists to help establish her music career.

Nicole Starr's strikingly attractive looks as well as commanding stage presence only further accent that she can also play guitar like any other male in the music industry and has gained respect while doing it. This unique performer with a very promising musical future will surely be making her mark as an artist in music.
