BandAmericanaSinger/Songwriter

An authentic, passionate Americana experience which roots in the tradition of hand-made acoustic folk music, yet is clearly contemporary!

Biography

After spending almost a decade as a band- and session-musician in Taipei/Taiwan and making a new start back in his native Germany as multi-instrumentalist (on guitar, double bass, mandolin, blues harp and vocals) for American singer Marybeth D’Amico, Niels finally fulfilled his longstanding ambition to put together a classic singer-songwriter solo-act. Today, accompanying himself on guitar and the occasional blues-harp, Niels performs his own sometimes quiet, sometimes energetic, but always expressive and powerful songs that are influenced by such musical genres as folk, country, blues, rock and funk. Over the years, Niels’ repertoire has developed into an authentic, passionate and vibrant Americana experience which roots in the tradition of hand-made acoustic folk music, yet is clearly contemporary. Niels has self-released a five-song debut EP in August 2009 entitled “Seed, Creed & Generation”, his song "I'll Take The Early Train was a Finalist in the "Song Of The Year" SOngwriting Competition based in Houston/Texas in 10/2009.

As of March 2010, Niels' debut EP will be distributed by the German indie label Timezone Records, they market the CD physically in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as digitally through iTunes, amazon mp3 and all other known download sites.

Our Barn

Written By: Niels Cremer (with Marybeth D'Amico)

The old barn has stood here since 1824
Paint cracked and peeling on its massive sliding doors
Still stands big and strong but it blocks the neighbour's view
We're gonna knock it down before the winter's through
We're tearing down the barnyard for a house all new
It won't have broken windows or a leaky roof
Our daddy's daddy and his daddy built the barn real well
Their spirits are right here, not in heaven, not in hell
And the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Barn walls will crumble, where wild weeds sprawl
Yeah the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Folks won't remember it was ever here at all
We planted a big chestnut tree in the middle of the yard
We planted it for daddy, cause daddy worked so hard
He'd've known to grow it, he knew how to run a farm
Yet ours looks like it's dying cause we're tearing down the barn
And the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Barn walls will crumble, where wild weeds sprawl
Yeah the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Folks won't remember it was ever here at all
It was standing strong - for decades and years
It was standing through - depression and fears
It was standing as - generations grew past
It was standing then - and now the barnyard won't last
And the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Barn walls will crumble, where wild weeds sprawl
Yeah the horses will run free, grasses grow tall
Folks won't remember it was ever here at all
The old barn has stood here since 1824
Now the barn won't be around much longer anymore

I'll Take The Early Train

Written By: Niels Cremer

I wanna walk on white pebble beaches
I wanna fly where the wind never reaches
I wanna learn what the teacher never teaches and
I wanna do what the preacher never preaches
I wanna say all the words I left unsaid
I wanna read letters that I left unread
I wanna sing to you all the songs that make me sad and
I wanna cry all the tears I left unshed
I wanna stay - But I think I'll just go
I'll take the early train
And I'm gone before you know
Yes I'm gone before you know
Girl I wanna thank you for the life you shared with me
Wanna reassure you this is the last you see of me
I don't want to leave a number, no forwarding address
You won't ever have to love again
I wanna go, yet I do want to stay
Wanna tell you all the things I have to say
I wanna see you, touch you, feel you, love you all the way
I wanna be with you, but instead I go away
I wanna stay - But I think I'll just go
I'll take the early train
And I'm gone before you know
Yes I'm gone before you know
Girl I wanna thank you for the life you shared with me
Wanna reassure you this is the last you see of me
I don't want to leave a number, no forwarding address
You won't ever have to love again
Yes I wanna thank you for the life you shared with me
Wanna reassure you this is the last you see of me
I don't want to leave a number, no forwarding address
You won't ever have to love again
I'll take the early train and I'm gone before you know

Seed, Creed & Generation

Written By: Niels Cremer

Tell me your secrets, and I'll tell you mine
Show me your past, let's go back in time
Tell me all the pretty things, that go through your mind
I wanna know your dark side too, so tell me what you want to do
Talk to me about, your friends and your family
Show me round your house, and then show me round your heart
Quench my thirst and still my hunger
Draw me a map, tell me where I wanna go
Cause I wanna know you, yeah I wanna know you
Tell me your past, tell me your seed
Your creed and your generation, tell me your past
Cause I wanna know you, yeah I wanna know you
Show me the pictures of your life, trace the stories of your scars
Share a silly joke, point me out your favorite stars and then
Open up the doors, let me in into your world and
Open up your heart, and let our friendship unfurl
Cause I wanna know you, yeah I wanna know you
Tell me your past, tell me your seed
Your creed and your generation, tell me your past
Cause I wanna know you yeah I wanna know you
I wanna know you - better each day
I wanna know you - each and every way
I wanna know you - like the devil knows hell
I wanna know you - better than well
Tell me your past, tell me your seed
Your creed and your generation, tell me your past
Cause I wanna know you, yeah I wanna know you
Cause I wanna know you, yeah I wanna know you
Girl I wanna know you, better than well

Right Now

Written By: Niels Cremer

I ain't lookin' for foregiveness
For the things that I have done
Don't expect your understanding
For what I said when I was young
I just want you to take me
The way that I am
Right now, now, now, now, now
I don't want your absolution
For sins I never did commit
I'm not vyin' for your approval
Not tryin' to chum up here one bit
I just want you to take me
The way that I am
Right now, now, now, now, now
Right now, I'm in love with you
You're in love with me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, right now
I will make a full confession
I will tell you everything
Cause I know that you won't judge me
On the person I have been
Yeah I know that you'll take me
The way that I am
Right now, now, now, now, now
Right now, I'm in love with you
You're in love with me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Right now, I'm in love with you
You're in love with me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah right now
Right now is the time to make our lifes rhyme
Right here is the place to get out of the race
Right now is the day that you can finally repay
Right now you can vow, but do it right here, cause
Right now, I'm in love with you
You're in love with me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Right now, I'm in love with you
You're in love with me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, right now
I ain't lookin' for foregiveness
For the things I might have done

Pig Tails

Written By: Niels Cremer

I wish I'd have known you
As a little girl
The one that smiles at me
With pigtails on the old ID
Cause the way I love
The woman you are now
I would have loved you then
The boy I'd been
Like it never ends
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at that little smile
Hoping you can stay here for a while
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at those lovely eyes
Knowing we will spend our lifes
Together
I wish I'd have been there
When you grew up
Stealing berries from the neighbours patch
You and me we would have been a match
I'd have written
Our names on walls
Yours and mine
Fixed in time
Like it never ends
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at that little smile
Hoping you can stay here for a while
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at those lovely eyes
Knowing we will spend our lifes
Together is the only thing that I
I wanna be with you
You bathe my heart in love so gentle
Like the morning dew
I feel like I have always known you
And I know it's true
I'd have loved you then
Like it's always been
And it never ends
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at that little smile
Hoping you can stay here for a while
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at those lovely eyes
Knowing we will spend our lifes
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at that little smile
Hoping you can stay here for a while
Looking at your picture
So glad you're a fixture - in my life
Looking at those lovely eyes
Knowing we will spend our lifes
Together
