Biography

Often described as 'Canada's Blues Ambassador to Chicago', Nigel Mack is a 'blues triple threat' (vocals, harp & guitar). His brand new, all-original CD 'Devil's Secrets' was recently named the winner of the 'Best Self-Produced CD' contest by the 'Windy City Blues Society'. It will be representing Chicago at the 2012 'International Blues Competition' in Memphis.

Nigel Mack has made Chicago, IL his home since 2003. He has toured North America relentlessly (logging over half a million miles) and headlined many of North America's top blues venues and festivals. It was this road-work that gave rise to the title of his 2001 release 'Road Rage'.

A prolific songwriter, Nigel's music has been heard around the globe on several internationally syndicated television programs, including 'Party Of Five', The Street' and 'Dawsons Creek'.

In addition to his full-blown band show Nigel often performs in a solo acoustic format. With his '64 Martin acoustic and a 1929 National steel guitar, Nigel plays music from such luminaries as Son House, Willy Dixon and Tampa Red in addition to his original tunes.

As a performer Nigel Mack pays a great deal of respect to the blues greats that have influenced him, while embracing the the modern funk-blues commonly heard on the Chicago blues scene of today. "My band is based upon the great James Cotton band of the 70's & 80s", he explains. "Cotton and the fellas would go from a 'stone cold' Muddy Waters song to an 'uptown funk' tune in the blink of an eye. It would blow your mind! I love the old blues, and have dedicated my life to playing it right. My band mixes it up, and like a painter, use the all the other shades of blues that are on the palate".

‘Nigel Mack & the Blues Attack’ have toured all over North America, Europe and headlined top blues venues throughout. They are a favorite act at festivals everywhere. Those who have seen this dynamic act will tell that ‘Nigel Mack & the Blues Attack’ are sure to keep you coming back for more!

Lyrics

King For A Day

Written By: Nigel Mackenzie (SOCAN)

Verse 1
Once I was king, king for a day
I had lot's of money
But it all just slipped away
You never know when you start the game of love
Which way the cards will play

Refrain
Once I was king, oh king for a day

Verse 2
I was a master, a master of crime
I had lots of girls, and I made so many mine, yes I did
Til I discovered that my woman
Had a found a new game to play

Refrain
Once I was king, oh king for a day

Bridge
I thought I was immune to the laws of love
I thumbed my nose, at the stars above
Now I walk though this world all alone
I'm just such a sad thing,
The baddest king you've ever known

Verse 3
If I could only, turn back the hands of time
I'd get back, to the day when that woman was all mine,
All mine
But when you fool around on your baby,
There's a price that you must pay

Refrain
Once I was king, oh king for a day

You never know when you start the game of love
Which way the cards will play
Once I was king, oh king for a day
Once I was king, oh king for a day
Once I was king, oh king for a day

Here's To You

Written By: Nigel Mackenzie SOCAN

Verse1
Here's to you, I blew this candle out last night
I hope you're doing alright
So I'll hoist a glass or two
Here's to you, I hope your life has turned out fine
'Cause you turned mine on a dime
And took me down a peg or two

Verse 2
Here's to you, I'm three sheets to the wind
I hope you'd understand
If you'd feel the way I do
Yes it's true, I hope your life has turned out fine
'Cause you turned mine on a dime
And took me down a peg or two

Solo

Bridge
Here's to you and here's to me
Here's to love, the way that love was meant to be
A drink for the future, a drink to the past
A hope for a love, a love that's going to last

Verse 3
But little baby, I think about you all the time
I can't get you off my mind
All the little things you do
But here's to me, I'm three sheets to the wind
I hope you'd understand
If you'd feel the way I do

Here's to you
Sitting all alone now
Come on bring back a little of my heart now darling
