“Motorik beats provide the steady, relentless pulse for the hazy, hypnotic, slow burn, melodic drones of this band. -
Like a garage rock band and way beyond with a singer who kinda had that Henry Rollins circa Black Flag thing going on. - Tom Murphy
Night Shapes bridge their melodic elements with haunted & hollow effects where the band creates atmospheric airs as a canvas for their ambitious, howling sound. -

Bio
Night shapes came to be like a rising phoenix out of the ashes of another project that Jim Morose (vox, guitar), Jose Davila (Bass), and Brian Draper (guitar, vox) felt had ran its course. They have been playing music together since 2010 and share a bond that is held together with a mixture of alcohol, psychedelics, and THC. They started playing out as Night Shapes around 2015 with a drum machine and the idea to combine shoegaze elements, psych rock vibes, and the energy of early hardcore/ punk into a wall of sound, dripping in sweat. The idea produced something between Big Black mixed with Brian Jonestown Massacre. After a few shows they picked up Brian Figueroa (guitar) and Carl Patrick (drums) to even things out. Now they’ve sculpted something that sounds like if Can got up with BJM and started a noise rock band with Black Flag vibes that left you in a welcomed mental state of confusion.
Residing in Oakland, they’ve played alongside Cool Ghouls, Cosmonauts, Creepers, Death Valley Girls, Dilly Dally, Holy Wave, Jay Som, LA Witch, No Age, Part Time, Protomartyr, Wand and many more.
Their latest release, Run, is out January 19th via Heavy Dose Records.
