Bio

Its just a fortunate thing that the majority of Night Parade are big football fans, otherwise they may never have become acquainted with one another. A mutual love for the red half of Merseyside brought Rob Vincent and Matt Carrigan together to form, what was to be the beginnings of the band. With the addition of Jay Whittaker on guitars and after finding drummer Sean Holland on an Internet Band Dating Website, they formed in 2007.

Night Parade quickly began establish themselves on the local music scene through word of mouth and confident live performances. Within weeks of forming they had recorded their first demo’s which would lead Channel 4 Music Unsigned to describe them as ‘a sublime guitar pop sound’. This rise on the local music scene led them to be chosen out of hundreds of bands to open the New Bands Stage at the World Famous Mathew Street Festival in 2008, which also happened to be the Capital of Culture year for Liverpool itself.

Many local gigs later, Night Parade were beginning to develop their own sound which infused pop, country, blues and indie music in one. With Rob Vincent as the principal songwriter, he chose subject matters as dark as death, and as light as love to deal with. This light and shade which they have always maintained as a band, gives them what many feel is one of their unique selling points.

In 2008 like most up and coming bands, they entered a Battle of The Bands competition in Birmingham. Their quietly confident performance took the eye of Rick Wakeman who was judging the Bass Genius Awards. This also led them to a chance meeting with internationally reknowned bass player Phil Spalding whom the band immediately struck up a rapport with. This consequently led to Phil becoming relentlessly involved with the band. Their relationship blossomed very quickly and led the band and other interested parties to form an independent record label (Creative Recording Company) with which Night Parade could channel their own music.

In 2009 the band went into the studio to record what would become their debut album Heaven Knows. The album was recorded in just 14 working days like many of the classic albums we love today. With Phil Spalding acting as producer and industry heavyweight Pete Smith engineering, the band knew they were in safe hands. John “Rabbit” Bundick (The Who, Bob Marley, Johnny Nash) was also draughted in to add keyboards and his unique touch and experience to the album.

From these recordings, the band decided to release two E.P.s in 2010, which they could use to further their reputation. The ‘Havoc’ EP and the ‘Did You Ever EP’ were released for download, via the band’s website and through two sold out shows in Liverpool, putting Night Parade firmly on the musical map.

The band have been courted by local media since its formation. Many articles have been favourably written in the Liverpool Echo, Formby Times, Crosby Herald to name but a few. The band have also enjoyed various local radio interest having been asked to play live sets for BBC Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monk’s Show and also Southport’s Dune FM Live Sounds Show both with a big listenership amongst North West music lovers.
