Bio
NIGHTTRAIN, is fundamentally a blues band born out of the soulful metropolitan Detroit music scene. On a blues backbone, the group also showcases their eclectic musical influences and interests, with soulful vocal stylings and with material that exhibits a range of genres. By example, songs like “Heavy Soul,” “Nothin’ but the Blues,” “Pinebox Blues,” and “Life and Times of a Deadman,” are reminiscent of the soulful, blues-infused rock music of the 60’s. Material like “Dance, you Sinners”, “7 come 11” and “Walking over Broken Glass, exhibits a funky blues side. And, songs like, “When I Hit the Bottle”, “Lady Luck,” and “Devil May Care,” exemplify the ability to write honky-tonk, rockabilly and country oriented material that is all equally soaked with a bluesy feel as well.
The musical endeavor NIGHTTRAIN began years ago, with the hard work of the songwriting duo: Matt Millar (Bassist), and Dennis Surhigh (Guitarist/Vocalist). Recently, the duo added a third member to the mix, (drummer) Michael Thompson. This trio has a great musical connection and rapport, given that they are great lifelong friends, and former bandmates of the late blues-funk-rock band “Mojo Stu”. After years of due diligence, NIGHTTRAIN is ready to bring their material to the stage! Hope to see you at a show, the range heard in their song-list leaves something for everyone.
