Childhood
NIKKI was born 1983 in Germany and grew up in Hamburg.
She grew up with music from childhood on. Her parents share a love for music and her father is an accomplished Piano and Guitar player. Already as a child she was listening to classical music and taken to Opera and Ballet performances for children by her Grandmother.
Age 6 to 14
NIKKI started taking her first piano lessons aged six. Soon after she also started a two years course of Violin. Becoming a teenager, she was determined to learn the Guitar. She self-taught herself on her father’s Guitar and later on started taking lessons. During this time she started writing her first songs on the Piano and Guitar, encouraged by her family and friends.
Age 14 to 18
NIKKI entered the school orchestra, playing the violin. She sang as a soprano in a classical choir for several years, giving performances in Hamburg and the surrounding German cities. NIKKI was also part of youth choir “TenSing” that was covering and performing chart songs. NIKKI sang and played the Bass Guitar for the choir’s band. She toured to Poland, Latvia and Lithuania for performances with the choir.
Although she always had a passion for singing, her voice was only recognised during a theatre performance. NIKKI played an old singer in “Pension Schoeller” (Jacoby/ Laufs), singing for the first time in front of several hundred people. Soon after she secured the female lead role in the “Beggar’s Opera” (Weill/ Brecht). After the success of her performance, she started classical vocal training.
NIKKI recorded her first CD still during school times. Having made her first contact with music technology during this project, she soon after invested in her own equipment and started writing and recording her songs at home.
Age 18 to Today
NIKKI completed her A-Levels in Hamburg in 2002. Immediately after, she studied for a Bachelor in Marketing, which she topped in 2007 with a Master in Business Administration and Information Technology. Soon after school, she also joined a rock band in Hamburg as lead singer, singing covers but also writing own material. She left the band when she moved to England in January 2007.
NIKKI is still working full-time as a Business Analyst for a major oil company in London. Although studying and working full time, NIKKI continued to pursue her singing and song writing activities. After several years of vocal training, NIKKI can now sing classical arias such as Mozart’s “Ach ich fuehl’s” (Zauberfloete) and Bizet’s “Habanera” (Carmen). She has performed classical and musical pieces in churches and on birthday parties. She is also performing as part of a London rock band for which she is singing backing vocals.
