Bio

The collaboration between world champion harpist, Marta Cook, and critically acclaimed performance artist, vocalist and writer, Nikki Patin, breaks new musical ground by combining the primary influences of Irish music and Black American/urban arts. Exploring the divide between inner and outer evolution, this collaboration is a revolutionary project designed to reveal the power of two incredibly unique artists and the extraordinary journey they’ve taken to find their own voices.

Cook, who most recently completed a European tour and recorded for Sony Classic, the Sony Classical label, in a collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma and Natalie MacMaster, has served as principal harpist of the DePaul Opera Orchestra, Charleston Symphony, Chicago’s Millennium Chamber Players, and the Ginn Resorts Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra.

Patin, most recently nominated for “Best Standout Performer” in the Dunedin Fringe Festival in Dunedin, New Zealand for her “Phat Grrrl Revolution” show, appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam in 2004. Patin also released her first book, “The Phat Grrrl Diaries,” in October 2008 and recently returned from a two-month tour of New Zealand and Australia.
