""Girl's Night In" Review"

"Nikki Werner is a Chilliwack, BC-based singer/songwriter. Girl's Night In is a follow-up release to a 2004 album by the Nikki Werner Band....this time it's Nikki Werner front and center in a solo role. And she delivers a pretty solid collection, thanks to her smooth vocal tones and some solid songwriting...five of which she has a hand in penning, most of those with husband, Kris Werner.

The album has already spun out a couple of singles - "How Can You Love Someone", and the current "Let Your Love Flow", a feisty cover of the Bellamy Brothers debut hit from 1976. Werner's version, produced by Ron Briggs features some neat touches including banjo parts by Robbie Steininger.

Other items here that draw special interest include the bouncy opening track, "Gone"; an inspirational number in "Memories", one of the co-writes by Nikki and Kris Werner; and the album's title track, "Girl's Night In", a mid-tempo winner they co-wrote with Tim Taylor. Listen also for a big production love song in "You", a tune co-written by Canada's Johnny Reid with Jerry Salley.

Girl's Night In was produced by Ron Briggs, recorded at studios in Vancouver, featuring the "who's who" of West Coast musicians.

Bio

For Nikki Werner, a down to earth attitude is what country music is all about. So it is no wonder that from an early age, you could find a young Nikki using her comb as her microphone performing in front of her mirror, the tunes of her favorite artists. And it's that same youthful energy and love for country music that is in every breath of her songs.

Nikki’s new album, “Girl’s Night In” is a pure example of what Nikki stands for as a woman in today’s society. “You don’t have to play just one role anymore” says a confident Nikki from backstage as she’s sharing a moment with her daughters while talking to fans.

Her new album has a song for everyone. Six of the 10 songs were co-written by Nikki with writers from Canada and Nashville such as Tim Taylor (Aaron Pritchett’s “My Way”) and Rick Tippe, while other songs were penned by noted writers including an updated version of the Bellamy Brothers classic “Let Your Love Flow”.

People have said Nikki's voice is like a combination of the sincerity of Martina McBride with the attitude of Terri Clark. With a voice that you won’t soon forget, Nikki’s talent is endless – she has a passion to create ‘that’ moment with every audience she performs for.

Nikki, a four time B.C. Country Music Award nominee has performed across B.C. and Alberta at venues such as the Merritt Mountain Music Festival and opening for Julian Austin.

Her first single “How Can You Love Someone” penned by Rodney Atkins has been well received at Canadian country radio and her new single “Let Your Love Flow” is currently climbing the charts.

“I love performing country music –it’s who I am!”
