Bio
Hailing from Budapest, Hungary, New York based vocalist Nikolett Pankovits graduated from City College of New York, jazz voice program. She studied classical piano from age 6 throughout her studies in music elementary school.
She went to the Ferenc Erkel music school for a year in Budapest (major in jazz vocal). From 1999 she played the lead role in a Hungarian musical for 5 years at the Margit Foldessy Drama Studio. Thanks to being in that Hungarian musical called “Képzelt riport egy amerikai popfesztiválról” (An Imaginary Report on an American Pop Festival), she had the opportunity to perform on the Sziget festival (one of the largest annual music festivals in Europe) in 2007 with one of the most famous Hungarian singer-songwriter, Gabor Presser.
Since she moved to New York, she formed an acoustic band to carry on her Hungarian roots with special South American rhythmic arrangements. In her concerts, the beautiful and unique Hungarian melodies are merged with jazz and folkloric flavor.
She has appeared in such major venues as The Bitter End, Metropolitan Room, ShapeShifter Lab, Consulate General of Hungary, New York Hungarian House, “Valley of Arts” festival (Hungary), Budapest Jazz Club (Hungary) among others.
