"Listen to Nina Las Vegas ace her first ever EP with Swick"

Nina Las Vegas might have made her name as a DJ and radio presenter, but those aren’t the only skills she’s got up her sleeve. Today, NLV and Swick – the Melbourne producer who’s joining Nina on her upcoming national tour – unveiled their joint EP Don’t Send. It’s the first production effort Nina’s ever set free on the internet and we’re sure you’ll agree that she aced it.

The two-track Don’t Send EP is up for free download on Skrillex’s Nest HQ label and you can listen to it below right now. “I’ve worked at triple j and DJed pretty much since I left high school, but before that I was in bands, musicals and sung a lot of jazz around Wagga (cool, aye?),” Nina explained on her Facebook. “Building up the courage to use all my production knowledge (shout out to using Abelton daily!) and admitting that I wanted to do something of my own… yeh, well it’s happened.”

If you like what you hear, you can catch Nina and Swick taking Don’t Send around the country from this weekend as part of the international edition of NLV Presents. Eclair Fifi, Sam Tiba and UNiiQU3 will all be flying in to join Nina and Swick on the road; you can catch up with the full tour details here. - In The Mix

"Premiere: Nina Las Vegas x Swick"

Last month we offered up a fiery free mix from the dance music queen of Australia, Nina Las Vegas, and now she returns to our headphones with her debut release via OSWLA off-shoot, The Nest.

She's teamed up with fellow Australian noise-bringer Swick and the rising star from Melbourne has released a hefty sum of tracks via labels such as Mad Decent, Main Course, Dim Mak as well as teaming up with Diplo for a collaborative EP in 2013.

We have the premiere of the lead track 'Don't Send' and this is a wild and ferocious club track. You can expect some pitched-up vocals, horns that stab and drops that should send a club mad.

As Nina puts it herself: "These tracks were made by NLV and Swick at Swick's studio/garage and Nina's studio/bedroom after swapping songs and sample packs. They are the first of many…" Exciting, check it out below.

You can grab the 'Don't Send' EP via The Nest here - Mixmag

"Hey, Nina Las Vegas makes Tunes and they're Rad"

Nina Las Vegas is like gravity or the internet – She's everywhere and nowhere at once. And as a DJ, promoter, and social media tsunami, she's built a totally unique aesthetic. Well, now there's another notch in her bow. She's collaborated with Swick to release a 2-track titled "Don't Send," coming out on Nest this Monday. The free-only imprint has been churning out straight fire recently (We're still bumpin' that Valy Mo 2-track) and this track is no exception.

"Swick is the best.." She tells THUMP. "We both push each other creatively and are happy to encourage weird shit in our tunes. We're both impatient, which you can kinda hear in the music we make. Drops never go for long, patterns switch up and nothing is longer that 3:30 mins."

We've got the premiere of "Flash Auto," it's got a rave-ready trancey build up that drops into some wicked future bass styles. - Thump

Bio

Nina Agzarian has been working in Australian radio for over a decade. After being forced into music tuition by her parents, at age 18, Nina relocated from country town Wagga to Sydney, where she entered the world of radio production. After producing mixtapes, podcasts and radio specials, she was eventually coerced into becoming a DJ.

For the last seven years Nina has emerged as one of Australia’s premiere DJs, touring relentlessly around Australia’s best clubs and festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Groovin’ the Moo, Big Day Out, Stereosonic and Parklife (where she also hosted the main stage).

It was also through DJing that Nina connected with fellow DJs Diplo and Levins, founding Heaps Decent: an ongoing initiative, committed to nurturing creativity in underprivileged and Indigenous young Australians. Now in its seventh year, Heaps Decent works with young people and emerging artists from marginalised and disadvantaged communities, providing a means by which they can tell their story in their own way.

Nina’s interest in dance music, across both the domestic and international scenes, and in particularly the burgeoning new sound coming out of emergent undiscovered relent in Australia landed her House Party, a weekly show on triple j. In 2010, she doubled her broadcasting duties, adding Mix Up Exclusives to her roster. Mix Up Exclusives takes over at 9pm with four hours of never-been-heard DJ mixes, exclusive to triple j. In 2014 Nina’s role at triple j changed. By focussing solely on Mix Up Exclusive, Nina now introduces the first hour every week with her own, more dance focused mix. She then presents three hours of exclusive mixes from the best dance talent from around the world.

From Nina’s prodigious DJ work inside and outside triple j, in 2012 she launched her first compilation, the double CD, House Party Volume 1, which topped the compilations chart and enjoyed Gold Sales in Australia. The 2013 follow-up, House Party 2, reached #1 on the Australian iTunes chart and also enjoyed Gold Sales.

Her first House Party Tour of 2012, with Flume, Beni and What So Not made a big impact in national awareness for these at-the-time emergent artists. 2013 was another stellar (and sell-out) success, with more established act Flight Facilities joining up comers such as Cassian, Wave Racer and Tyler Touché.

This February Nina developed and produced the NLV Presents tour brand. A separate entity for her triple j programs and tour, NLV Presents highlights the next crop of underground Australian producers, MCs and DJs – before they’ve even hit radio – connecting them with a strong, grass-roots audience around the country. Some of the talent on the inaugural NLV tour included Motez, Bassenji and Sable.

In her time as host, Nina Las Vegas has programmed the likes of SBTRKT, Diplo, Digitalism, Dillon Francis, Baauer, Brodinksi, Cashmere Cat, Chase & Status, Cyril Hahn, Claude Von Stroke, Jack Beats, Jaques Renault, Jesse Rose, Aeroplane, Annie Mac, Adrian Lux, Alex Metric, Anna Lunoe, Above & Beyond, Four Tet, Flosstradamus, Flume, Beni, Nervo, ShockOne, Ta-Ku, The 2 Bears, Yuksek, Peking Duk, Bag Raiders, Boys Noize, Hermitude, Lancelot, RAC, and many more.

Nina has just released her first EP, 'Don't Send' / 'Flash Auto' - released on Skrillex's Nest imprint.
