Nina Capone formally known as Lay-D-Bug began her passion for music at an early age. However, it wasn't until 1991 when she began touring with Loni Gamble former member of the ‘Stylistics’ that she honed her craft. Nina grew to local fame in the city of Williamsport, PA by performing at venues such as three Annual Unity Day concerts and touring the Pennsylvania prisons with the band ‘Sound Cheque.’

There she performed her popular hit ‘Lay-D-Bugs in the House’ which she wrote and CO-produced. She was given the opportunity to create a public service announcement sponsored by the city entitled ‘We are the young’ to empower the youth to stay drug free which ran on local cable stations for over a year. Therefore, she was requested to be the opening act for the legendary ‘Temptations’ in 1993.

In addition, here we are years later Nina Capone is taking the city of Philly by storm. Performing at numerous events such as, ‘The Annual Greek Picnic’ and ‘The Mayor's Office Annual Youth Expo’ Nina has been on local radio stations Power 99FM and 100.3 The Beat, not to mention featured spots of ‘TV48’s Urban X-Pressions. Realizing that it would take more than just brief cameos at events to spotlight her skills Nina along with Graphic designer ‘Sway Touch’ decided to create showcases that would feature unsigned Philly artist and Nina Capone as a head liner. In 2003, Nina celebrated her birthday with the first Annual Nina Capone B-Day Bash followed by the Nina Capone showcase in Sept. 2003. Which featured special Guests like 76’s ball player ‘Allen Iverson’ who also came out to watch Nina move the crowd. Both events were a success and gained Nina celebrity status. These annual events were even larger for 2004. After being featured in the Daily News, she was given the moniker ‘Femcee’ by journalist Damon C. Williams. Nina has recently appeared in the September 2006 issue of “Uncut Magazine” where she revels the real about who she is.

Nina has received much clout because of her sharp lyrics and luminous performance she's shared the stage with such artist as Rocafella’s Freeway, Peddi Crack, Flip Mode Squads Rampage, Total Vision, Ms. Jade, Eve, and most recent Ms. Trina, Miami's Diamond Princess. Nina has released her first CD titled ‘Mob Mistress Damn Near Naked’ with the hit single ‘Thugs Wife’ adored by everyone on the streets for its hard-hitting graphical content. Along with several local producers and Nina as CO-producer, this was an underground hit.

Recently, Nina Capone has completed projects such as the remake of ‘Shake Ya Groove Thing’ alongside R&B legends ‘Peaches & Herb’ which was produced by hit-maker Joe ‘The Butcher’ Nicolo, and she was also featured on the Phat Farm Mix CD produced by DJ Tayrock and Newly released ‘Steel City Massacre’ produced by Pittsburgh ‘DJ Cadillac.’ Nina has completed a project with the legendary producer ‘Sam Sneed’ “You better recognize,” on his up and coming “Street Scholars Release” a song titled “Sneedhearts” also Nina got Feature on Freddie Jackson’s “What ya waiting for” single from his album “Transitions” that was released in 2006. In 2007 Nina had the opportunity to co-host 106 & Park live in Philly alongside Terrence.

Currently Nina is working on an Independent album titled “Back in Business” Which consists of a mixture of Contemporary R&B and hip hop and Rock sounds. Nina is also writing her first book of poetry titled “From my urban heart” which will be 60 pages of spoken word formulated poetry. Nina is also an on air internet radio DJ on Blogtalk Radio She host the show Girly Music Radio which airs on Tues, Thurs. and Saturday’s, worldwide. This young lady has many talents that she intends to share with the world she is a platinum artist in the making.
