Bio

Monicqwa Wright was born in Brooklyn, but raised in the Bronx. At the early age of 4, she expressed her love for music by singing in her church choir. When she sang her first solo at the age of 9, she had many adults amazed at how developed her voice was at such a young age. As time went on, Monicqwa got more involved with gospel by singing with her other two sisters forming a group called "The Wright Sisters". They sang on the air every friday night and the radio host titled them as one of his "favorites".Monicqwa was always involved in music, she attended the Dr.Daniel Hale Williams Middle School for Performing Arts where she studied music, drama and dance. She then attended Harry S. Truman High School where she perfected her craft. By time she graduated, her peers nominated her as "The Next American Idol". At the graduation, she brought the whole class to tears when she did a duet "That's What Friends are for" by Dionne Warwick & Stevie Wonder. Later that summer, Monicqwa went straight to work on her demo album titled "Just the Beginning" where she wrote all of her songs. She recieved a lot of positive feedback, from her warm personality down to her incredible voice. She performed at many clubs across the tri-state area. At one of her shows an Emcee Prophecy, labled her as "The Golden Girl with the Platinum Voice". This has remained with her as she is introduced to various crowds. As Monicqwa got deeper into her craft she renamed herself as "Nina Mone".To everyone she encounters, she immediately grabs their attention and leaves them with a memorable impression. She is a firm believer in God, and just feels like she is destined to make it. I have no doubt in her, she is definitely a star on the rise...
