NINA, “We Are The Wild Ones”

German electro-pop up-and-comer NINA is serving up some serious “Drive” soundtrack realness with her luscious new synth-pop single, “We Are The Wild Ones.”

The throbbing, spacey number sees the songstress navigating the same chilly synths as College & Electric Youth’s ever-incredible “A Real Hero,” delivering a Ladytron-like vocal while doing so: “We are the wild ones, there is no hope for us now,” she coos above the shimmering beat. Berlin-born singer Nina's got an EP out soon, My Mistake, and it sees release on April 7 via Aztec. "My Mistake" features Nina's radiant vocals, cast in a shadowy distant vibe, with bright, oscillating synth work that isn't a million miles away from Chvrches' own Depeche Mode-isms. - Pitchfork

Going by the stage name NINA, and hailing from Berlin, her new track "We Are the Wild Ones" sounds like Lana Del Ray meets Robyn, or if Alison Goldfrapp had sung on the "Drive" soundtrack. The pulsing beat of the song with the distant echoes of NINA's voice will make you long for drives on deserted city streets.

The accompanying video (which you can watch above) even further illustrates the mood of the song -- the ability to feel lonely anywhere, even in a crowded disco.

Opening fir Erasure was Nina, synth-pop artist from the UK. The blonde vocalist and keyboard player was joined on stage by a percussionist. Nina's music is very dance oriented and it was the perfect complement for Erasure. Often Nina would leave the keyboard to take center stage as the percussionist kept a perfect beat for the dance-oriented songs. Nina is charismatic with catchy songs that have great hooks. And while Erasure has been around longer than she has been alive it was almost as if she is family. Not over-produced or gaudy or gimmicky, Nina is synth-pop at its best. And hopefully this won't be the last or only time you hear of her. - Enigma Magazine
